I am so excited about tomorrow I can't stand it. I have been a deer hunter primarily my whole life but I'm gonna hit the turkey woods tomorrow. It will be my first time - and going by myself. I think I'm hooked before I ever hear/call or kill a turkey. I have seen a lot of turkey and turkey sign while deer hunting. I also took the time to do some turkey scouting while familiarizing myself with the new club this year.

I am already prepared to make some mistakes and know they are inevitable. That being said, the pinned, aldeer beginner's turkey blog - along with many other videos - has been invaluable already. Thanks to all the guys for the comments in that thread. I have been a turkey-forum-lurker for a while. Haha...

I have been reading and practicing my calling along with studying the reasoning for the different calls, etc. I don't plan to overdo it with the calling until I see how it goes. I will mostly listen and observe. smile I do have an "idiot-proof" box call and know that I'll have to keep it dry. The forecast for rain has been reduced slightly so I'm hopeful...

I remember a nice spot with a high concentration of turkey poop. I remember being like "what in the world?!?!" when I saw it. Then I read somewhere later on that it might be a roosting area if you see something like that. I'm gonna try to hit that spot in the morning, just uphill from it, and see what happens.

Nothing will replace the experience gained by getting out there and going after them but any additional advice welcome! Thanks again for the pinned posts...

Good luck to everyone else tomorrow as well...

Good luck man. Hope tomorrow's your day. I'm also from Huntsville and if you ever want to get together and go, let me know. I mostly hunt public but always enjoy hunting with a buddy.

Yeah, well, I always heard there were three kinds of suns in Kansas: sunshine, sunflowers, and sons-of-bitches.

Thanks, BW. I'm just excited to get out the woods. I have hunted some public lands for deer mostly around here too - and seen a few turkeys. I hope to be able to get out up here on some public land after April 1st. There may be a few times when I can't go down to the club. PM me if you want. I have some TVA spots and have hunted around the Skyline area.

I'll definitely shoot you a PM here sometime soon and maybe we can get a hunt in. Good luck in the morning.
