The thrifty parents buy last year's "hot bat" from Direct Sports for 1/2 the price. I used to tell my players/parents that a top notch bat ain't worth $5 in the hands of a kid who can't hit. Learning to be a contact hitter is much more important. Ain't much more impressive than a kid you can't strike out.
