I carry the XDs .45. the reason I choose that is because it is really small and I can cary it wearing just a T-shirt. I chose the 45 because it is my believe that in a situation that I have to use it my accuracy may not be what it is on the range. With having only 5-7 rounds I prefer to make big holes rather than small ones in my target. Having said that my wife carries a 9mm Glock 19. Why? Because she isn't scared of it and can accurately engage a target with it.

I will agree that 9mm has come a long way as long as you shot something other than ball. Is there a difference on 9mm and 45 when you place the bullet between eyes? No, not in anything that I can find. Are there situations where the threat is being engaged with any caliber and doesn't go down immediately? I am sure that there are. So I believe that the 9mm will put down the target that I am engaging? Yes, I do. I believe that because if the first to shots do not put the threat down I am going to shot them in the head. That is how I have been trained and there is not doubt in my mind that is what will happen if I am in that situation. At the end of the day carry what you are comfortable with, train with it and pray you never have to use it.

they failed to mention 44 magnum with platinum hunting bullets. last I checked a 9mm would not leave a halfdollar size hole in a washing machine. nor would a 9mm take down a suspect at 100 yards.

I think you should carry what you shoot the best. Though I don't carry anything smaller than a 9mm or .38 special, I've heard .22 kills more people in the US every year than any other round.

careful with that "no doubt in my mind" thingy.. shocked only two shooting incidents I have been involved in I busted the guys jaw with a shotgun butt, shooting either of them never crossed my mind at that last second under pressure. Don't know where that came from...one of shot at me, the other had just shot a deputy.

My daily carry is usually a Springfield Operator 1911 in .45 or an FN-S in 9mm. I feel just as confident carrying the 9 as I do the .45. I keep 125gr Speer Gold Dot +Ps in it and I have one shot killed two different deer with them. 9mm is a great round in the right hands.

Ask a dead guy if he noticed a difference in the 9mm or 45. Don't think they can tell the difference. I carry a 10mm auto now and a 9 does not have the power or penetration. But when it come to actual practical shooting shucks has hit the fan you can and will be able to drive a 9mm semi auto pistol better than a 45 plus easier to carry less combat load weight and ease of ammo cost. Do I think the 9mm is inferior for an every day duty pistol? No! Do I prefer a 10mm? Yes we are talking preference here. But in real life where preferences don't mean anything. The 9mm is plenty enough to kill you dead. Ask anyone who has actually used their weapon in combat........... They work fine

I will stand behind the 9mm....or m9 as we called it in the service. I will say that I have first hand experience in what the m9 will do in a combat situation. I will not go into detail, for this is something I deal with mentally. As far as combat I like what some of yall tell yourself you would do, but combat situations offer many variables beyond ones control. Shoot what you are comfortable with. The reality of most on here shooting someone is slim to none.....the ones that have don't brag. Continue on

You are correct. Rereading it I simply meant that training will kick in and just like you said you won't even know what happened till its over. I have had to use my weapon. A little bit different situation than yours but in my experience training kicks in and you just act. I do understand every situation is different and things can happen fast.

The 9mm guy can tell you why he is right. T 45 guy knows he is right. The guy with the 40 laughs at the two for being silly because he knows the truth. And at the end of the day the one who saves the day is the old guy with the 38 snub in his pocket.

I won't poor mouth a 9mm because it will kill someone just as dead as any other firearm provided the shooter puts the bullet where it needs to be. I carry a .45 ACP because I want the most damage and stopping power I can get in the event that I have to shoot someone. There is no debate that the .45 ACP is superior in that category.

In all seriousness, I carry a 38 hammerless and keep a 45 in the vehicle. If I'm outgunned after emptying those 2 I wasn't well enough prepared any way.

If you want a pocket gun, I would go with a Ruger LC9. That's what I was going to buy, but I found a great deal on the little Taurus TCP738 that I bought. I wish I had gotten a 9mm, but the 380 is easier to conceal which was my main reason for buying a new gun. The S&W Bodyguard is good too.

I like the sig p938. Its small enough to fit in your pocket and shoots great. A gun is useless if you don't have it with you when you need it. Unfortunately my glock 21 is too big to carry concealed unless I wear a jacket.

Two roads diverged in the woods and I took the one with deep ruts, hills and mud.It may be bumpy but WHAT A RIDE!
