wussy 9mm shooters are always trying to prove their 9mm is as good as any 357/40/45 ever shot at bad guys. Kinda like Samford football saying they really are as good as Auburn or Alabama .....

any improvements in 9mm bullets/ammo has also been made in 357/40/45 ammo....

I have 357 sig and really like it. Its almost impossible to make it jam, because it a bottle neck. 40, 357 sig,and 10mm are top penetraters. BUT the contractors are using Glock 9mms over seas right now. Regular army still uses the hell out of M9 Beretta as well. You can carry alot more 9mm ammo as opposted to 40 or 45 per lbs. Maybe thats the thinking???

you NEED to carry more 9mm ammo...... laugh

many, many years ago I worked at Aeromarine in sales. We had a customer that was a rabid 9mm fan, always argueing about how the 9mm was as good as a 45ACP. One fine Sunday he shot a Drug Store robber like 5-6 times, and ran the 14 shot Browning Hi-Power dry on his as he drove at him. Bad guy wrecked and was caught by popo. Customer comes in next day bragging on his bad arse 9mm...we were laughing at him all the way about how many times he shot the guy. Bad guy walks out of the hospital next day in spite of 5-6 hits..... Customer goes into hiding with prolly 6 shotguns around him. LOL

The change has more to do with shot placement than the size of the projectile.

Kinda like shooting a deer or hog. If you don't hit them in the right place they keep going.

A thug shot twice in the ten ring with a 9mm is just as dead as a 44 mag.

so a thug shot in the 10 ring with a 22 short is just as dead as a thug shot in the 10 ring with a 50BMG????

I see your point. I own 9mms,40s,45s, and 357 sigs. The truth is WHY would you carry a 15 shot 9mm when you could carry a Glock 40 caliber with 15 rds. Hell, even the 10mm Glocks have 15 rd mags!! I guess to me, the only reason would be = you could pack more 9mm per round = per lbs. If you where in a = End of the world situation, 1 could argue that 9mms would be the easiest round to find because more people shoot 9mm ??????

My dad always carried a 45 or 357 when he was a LEO. He had a partner that swore by the 9mm till his shots ricochet off a Car windshield and resulted in him getting ran over His partner switched to the 45 after he got out of the hospital.

.45ACP, it's what a 9mm wants to be when it grows up.

Get the F out of the BATFE. The F is guaranteed by the US Constitution. Those other letters are not.

Life is a journey. Make sure and bring plenty of Beer.

My luck has been so bad lately, it could be raining pussies and I'd catch one with a dick broke off in it.

When it comes to the standard LEO calibers, tests have shown with modern bullet technology that there is no difference in their ability to stop someone. The best thing is to choose a platform you are comfortable with and use it. The .45 makes a bigger hole but skin is elastic. The difference is so minimal that it is irrelevant. Plus with the 9mm you get a smaller platform generally and higher capacity.

Here is some info.

Lots and lots of good info (hard data) and informed opinion articles on Chuck Hawks on this subject.

This. 9mm fans act like every other pistol cartridge stopped improving in the 80's.

I have yet to see anyone shrug off a 9mm round to the vitals. Maybe I just don't know any tough folks.

I've got a 9mm that I love. I bought and will always keep a 9mm due to ammo availability.

I carry a 9mm also. It's not as big as the .40 or .45 but it'll get the job done. A shot in the 10 ring with any of the 3 calibers above will do some damage.
