I Think Most Christians as myself are not wanting to judge others or should not, but are hammered for voicing their disapproval of gay marriage. I feel its wrong but I also know I am the chief of sinners. Our sins are all the same in God's eye. I guess what I'm getting at is I along with the last 10 generations hold the traditional Marriage as a way of life. If a couple wanted to have a civil union with others is one thing but what gets a most of people upset is the Federal Government wanting to change the definition of marriage when the tradition marriage was never part of the Government but was defined in God's Word. I know several of gay and I love them the same as any other, and I must be very careful at looking at the speck in others eye when I have a plank in mine. I hope I am judged by the fruits of the spirit : love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control and not by my sins, just as others should do. You should love me as a sinner and hate my sin but today's christian have a hard time expressing themselves without sounding hypocritical.

13 pages in and we're still arguing this. If a new thread opened up tomorrow about same sex marriage (which will probably happen) we'll go another 13 pages with the same round and round posts.

As with almost all controversial social issues nowadays, it all comes down to one's view of the Bible and how literal, how absolute he interprets it. Almost all of a person's views and beliefs and actions will proceed from the literal/metaphorical/not-at-all Biblical interpretation debate. Is the Bible God's unerring, unfailing, 100% inspired, completely literal word and command to us or not? That's the key to everyone's view.

I agree that people, Christians too, can be very selective in what we acknowledge as wrong. Some like to drink but gloss over it to point out someone else's sin. That's why God tells us to do all things out of love. If we first love others then we will be quick to help and slow to condemn.
I want to be very clear that I'm not condoning homosexuality. I'm saying it's not my place to judge. It's interesting that you chose the verse you did. Continue reading Romans. If you read the rest of that chapter and on into the next chapter, you will see that Paul's entire message is that only God can judge people's sin. Our place is to love others and show them Gods goodness.

I'll bet if your Mom came by and said "Son, I tried some heroin the other day. Great stuff! I can't wait to get some more!", you'd be judging. Just like if your daughter came home and said the same thing. How about if your wife decided she wanted to start hanging around male friends from work? We judge people's actions all the time, and we're supposed to.

this thread has nothing to do with whether the practice of homosexuality is a sin or not. i reckon all of us - well, the vast majority - agree that it is a sin. this thread is supposed to be about the LEGAL issues involved. THAT is where the disagreement is. man's law - and behavior - diverge from biblical teachings all the time. this is a fallen world. the whole Old Testament is about man breaking Father God's law, and how man CANNOT police himself without the Father in his heart ...

Nothing wrong with calling them "queers". The definition of the word "queer" is to be "unnatural". The Bible clearly states that homosexuality is unnatural (Romans 1:26-27). If it offends a person to be called a queer then they need to look inside themselves and ask why they are offended. It could be that they know deep inside it is wrong. I don't hate them for being queer. To use the old adage, "Love the sinner, hate the sin". My nephew is queer as well as a friend I've had as long as I have been alive. It tears me up that they live that lifestyle. It also tears me up that many people who claim to be christians run around on their spouses, abuse their children, lie cheat and steal. I'm far from perfect myself, but I try to live a lifestyle in accordance with what Jesus has laid out for us. I fail miserably but thankfully I am forgiven. Homosexuality is a forgiveable sin just like any other sin. A person has to ask for it though. They have to repent, which means to turn away from. A homosexual can't ask for forgiveness when they don't mean it and know they have no intnetion to discontinue living the life they are. Just like a person that lies, cheats and steals won't be forgiven when they have no intention/desire to change their ways. I can see where doekiller is coming from when he says that straight people can't have more rights than gays. I see where he is coming from but I don't agree with him. Doekiller, I've never met you in person but I know for a fact that if we got into a debate about pretty much anything, you'd beat me hands down. You are an intelligent, well educated person. I'm afraid your views though, have been clouded as well as many other believers that area going along with all of this. Straycat told me something over lunch (imagine that... us eating grin) that has stuck with me ever since. You can't keep your christianity in a box and only pull it out on Sundays or when it's appropriate. Christianity is something that has to be a part of your everyday life. Every aspect of it. What you have learned about how society "should be", I'm sorry is wrong. We may not always be able to explain why things are the way they are but we just have to follow God's word and trust it whether or not we can fully explain why something is the way it is. Proverbs 14:12- "There is a way that seems right to a man, but in its end is the way to death."

Have a great day everyone.

I would like to make one thing clear, I am against homosexuality. I do not condone it, and I have told several homosexuals I know that as a Christian, I can not condone their sin, but, that I will not condemn them. I do not support homosexual marriage and if I was a judge I would not preside over one. There are a lot of things I don't agree with personally. Some of those things are perfectly legal. I understand the reasoning behind rulings like this and I have studied the constitution more than most people on this site and I am not relying on what I heard on talk radio or at church or from a buddy as to what the constitution is or what it says. Saying that doesn't mean that I do not take those conversations or things that I hear into consideration, but, I place them against over 200 years of constitutional law from our court. Under our system, it is the courts duty to decide if something is constitutional. Many times over the course of our country, the courts have been forced to make determinations as to the constitutionality of a law, despite it being overwhelmingly popular. Because, when it comes to the law, the majority does not always rule. The laws of this country are suppose to be blind to prejudice. It is not condoning a behavior to say that it is wrong for the state to outlaw something for one group that is legal for another group.

I have nothing further to say on this topic.

1. I am disappointed with all the negative comments on here about CJ Moore. He is one of the last real life Founding Father style patriots and heroes that occupy high public office in this country. He should have our support and prayers as he fights the good fight for the REAL Constitution.

2. People need to understand, AND THIS INCLUDES DOEKILLER, that there has been a WAR in the legal field that started about 100 years ago as it relates to the U.S. Constitution. About that time long ago, self righteous REVISIONIST lawyers began advocated for a NEW kind of Constitution. This was the beginning of the affects of various Leftist movements that began in Europe and how they migrated to the U.S.

Under the New version of the Constitution, it was NO LONGER to be considered what the Founding Fathers *wrote* *said* *did* or *intended* ( an immutable unchangeable granite like document) but RATHER, it was to *become* a "living evolving document." Therefore, it was to *become* something malleable and changeable by JUDICIAL FIAT. And the goals was to have lawyers who would go along with this to become judges, particularly in the Federal judiciary and eventually to the Supreme Court.

So over time they have had tremendous success. What they do is literally AMEND the Constitution with their ultra radical liberal rulings and then they say, "we have the robe" "were are the federal court" YOU MUST BOW DOWN AND OBEY US."

3. Everyone with a high school education is supposed to know that the Equal Protection Clause of the 14th Amendment was specifically AND ONLY about RACE. It was an Amendment to address the realities of the aftermath of the Civil War and to prevent a stealth re-institution of a form of slavery and the denial of the equal protection of the laws to the recently freed black American slaves. Also various issues pertaining to Reconstruction.

4. As anyone with a brain or common sense knows, neither the EPC or DPC have ANYTHING TO DO WHATSOEVER WITH SEX, SEXUAL PREFERENCES, FETISHES OR PERVERSION!

BUT NOT IF YOU ARE A GODLESS ANTICHRIST LIBERAL REVISIONIST JUDGE, then you can say that the Constitution "says and means whatever I want it to say or mean." THAT is called judicial FIAT.

And that is something that Roy Moore perfectly knows and understands. But that is something all Americans are supposed to know and understand.

5. There are times in life when a federal court ruling is so blatantly wrong and unconstitutional itself that the States and the People must declare it a NULLITY. The Roe vs. Wade abortion ruling and all these sodomite marriage rulings are two examples. Anything less is itself a betrayal of the Constitution.

Says the Federal Government, then Congress turns around and does basically the same thing by exempting themselves from Obamacare. It's okay for them to do it but not the rest of the country. It's all one big double standard.

This, and all hidden behind legalese. A quote that's stuck with me since college has been "Some animals are more equal than others". Unfortunately, I've lived to see that in this country that used to preach freedom to the rest of the world. Maybe we've always been ruled by the feds and I haven't noticed, but it sure seems like they're getting more and more heavy handed.

Scott,

I can respect that. The following isn't directed at you alone, but just some general follow up thoughts.

Lawyers, judges and the courts can be wrong and incorrect in their interpretations at all levels regardless of the issue or the "side" they are on. Just because a court may rule something unconstitutional doesn't mean they are correct in their thinking. Nor vice versa. Their duty may be to interpret the law, but we all know that these interpretations are often filled with social and political bias. And that cuts both ways as history has shown.

Per my opinion, if the SCOTUS falls for this progressive based false argument of equal protection of a behavior, not a natural right, and enables homosexuals to be a protected class based solely on sexual preference or identity then it will open up a firestorm of legal wrangling like we've never seen before regarding gay rights and other fringe sexual identity arguments.

The reason for the Constitution and our laws in the first place is to create a just and ordered society that is based on natural rights that God created and endowed us with, set on a foundation of morality that reflects Honor, Justice, Goodness and Virtue--all of which are Biblical principles.

When the lawmakers and/or the courts deviate from this aim and seek to redefine terms and redefine what society should look like, then it is the court and lawmakers who are off track from those timeless ideals of Honor, Justice, Goodness and Virtue.

After the gay marriage debate is over and SCOTUS caves in and allows it nationwide....Up next: transgendered, cross dressing, gender identity.

I expect the world to act like the world. So it doesn't surprise me when people fall all over themselves condoning certain behaviors and failing to understand that real liberty has a virtuous component that is mandatory by definition. When our nation sells out to the progressive ideals that are attacking currently, we will not have more liberty, but less.

Carry on. I'm done on this topic as well.

"The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever." Isaiah 40:8

"Neither the wisest constitution nor the wisest laws will secure the liberty and happiness of a people whose manners are universally corrupt. Samuel Adams

I disagree. I think we should question peoples actions but judgement is left to one person according to the bible.

I haven't cared for Roy Moore since the whole Ten Commandments deal. I'm a Christian but also understand how fragile some rights are. The same laws that prohibited him from posting the Ten Commandments in his courtroom are the ones that will hopefully protect us if a Muslim is elected and wants to put the Quran in his courtroom. If they don't then I'll stand my ground.
