According to some on here, we should still stone adulterers to death.

I don't have a lot to add that hasn't been said. I'm not bothered by gay people getting married any more than I am a Christian couple divorcing after promising God they would be together until death. What bothers me are grown men that proclaim to be Christians calling a group of gay people queers. I get this is a hunting site and many of you are conservative, but come on! It's disrespectful and makes you look ignorant.

In an attempt at levity on such a serious and touchy topic, I will close with this:

"Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I've ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response was there anything that could even be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul!" - Host

Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister is still in the darkness. (‭1 John‬ ‭2‬:‭9‬ NIV)

So if federal law trumps state law, how are they legally smoking weed in Colorado & other states? Colorado state law passed marijuana use & made it legal, yet its illegal under federal law.

Haven't seen any feds arresting stoners in Denver on the news.

You nailed it. Name calling shows a complete lack of intelligence.

I agree with hate but pointing out wrong is not the same. I hear people use the term " those without sin cast the first stone",whenever someone points out something wrong. If that is true then we have no buisness having laws period.

I do notice it is easier for folks to be vocal on a subject where they dislike the person or circumstances. This thread wouldn't be as long if the subject was premarital sex or a thread about women in skimpy clothes they would like to visit with. That's because most have done or thought it.

It's called the pick and choose method.... They pick and choose which laws to enforce... Just as they are doing with ACA.... Whatever is the hot topic at the time that will gain them the most votes with certain demographics...

Because the federal government has determined that it will not enforce marijuania laws. In states where it is legal.

Very true but just to clarify, the unsaved are not our brothers and sisters, in Christ. But , God also commands us to love our enemies. So, we are commanded to love, above all else. That still doesn't mean we are to call things good that God has called bad or that we should set laws in direct contrast with His law.

I do not understand why some of you can not understand that non Christians have the same rights and privileges.

I am a Christian. But, I understand that my rights do not trump the rights of others. Also, the government can not base its laws on one world view or religious position.

Burbank, adultery is still a sin but the way it is punished has changed. Are you saying God's calling homosexuality a sin and warning society against it is outdated and that God has changed his mind?

That's the purpose of our becoming a nation. Freedom of religion was paramount in crossing the Atlantic for the new world. I don't want some Muslim telling me how my family should live.
The sanctity of Christian marriage is not effected by governmental laws. If a law is decreed that Christianity is illegal are you any less a Christian? Absolutely not. A covenant made between you and God is above any law. What a government considers to be a legal transaction between consenting adults has nothing more to do with my beliefs as a Christian than saying two women can own a business together.

This doesn't mean to not call sin, sin. What it is talking about is judging another's salvation. Verses can be used to twist the meaning of anything but if you read the context the meaning becomes clearer. If you judge someone to hell for the sin of thievery you too will be judged for your sins, by the same measure. Grace alone, saves.

The most unloving thing you can do is let another person go to hell without telling them how their life of sin separates them from God.

To those ok with this, why are you ok with this? I haven't seen anyone state why other than saying, Christians didn't invent marriage.... Is it the fact that you just don't want objective morality that is based on a Biblical view? Is it ok to you because the law says it is ok?

So many in this world, country, state down to this website want to live by cultural relativism/ conventionalism. Where societies or people decide what is right or wrong and those values vary from culture to culture or person to person and are ok because the law says it is or ok because a person is ok with it since it doesn't bother their moral view. I think we can all come up with examples weather extreme or minor where this though process is inaccurate.

I base my moral views on the word of God, as stated it is the same in the begining the middle and the end. It is never changing and never wrong.

No, I am saying that christians are guilty of selective enforcement.

We could spend about a week covering the sins stated in the bible that christians ignore because it inconveniences them.

How are you "warning" society about gays? I'm pretty sure it has been around for awhile.

the marriage issue SHOULD be a state/local issue. but it's not, because of lawsuits making their way through the courts have landed in federal hands, yielding the decision that lead to this thread, and others across the country. maybe those who are opposed should put together a million heterosexual married couple march on washington, d.c., to make a point that will sway federal judgeship appointments in future generations. maybe such a march would press congress towards a constitutional amendment. maybe, the country has NOT lost its blessing. but i do not think so, and it saddens me ...

Again, you have to decide what kind of society you want to live in. One governed by biblical principles or one governed by the whims of corruptible men. Using the constitution as a weapon is how we have the blood of millions of aborted children on our hands. Freedom to do anything we choose under the premise it isn't affecting others has led our nation to the tipping point we are at. Calling abortion and gay marriage progress is an acknowledgement that we answer only to ourselves and that no higher power holds our nation in His hands. I have a feeling we aren't far from getting what we are asking Him for.
