You guys are way way to hung up on a word. Marriage isn't biblical. It existed before the bible. Are you not just as hung up on the word "Bible"? You are correct, marriage existed before the Bible because the Bible was not completed when God preformed the first marriage, Adam and Eve,man and woman. The Bible is not one book written at one time, there are 66 separate books that make up the Bible written by 40 different authors over a span of about 1500 years. Genesis is the first book in the Bible and it starts out with "In the beginning God" then shortly describes the first marriage. Marriage is Biblical. Okay smart guy, how about this. Marriage isn't a Christian idea and is not exclusive to Christians. So, therefore, Christians should not be allowed to say who gets married anymore than they should be the ones to say who can vote, hold office or walk down the street. The same is true for any group. One group does not get to determine the rights of another group of people.

Marriage from a legal aspect is nothing more than a contract. Should one dude not be allowed to sell his house to another dude? Why then can he not legally give half of his stuff to another dude and sign a contract stating such? Marriage is what God says it is. Man can corrupt and defile it but they can't redefine what God already defined. Government chose to take control over the matter when they decided you needed a license to get married. You can twist it , turn it or spin it however you like but God will not be mocked. Man is forever trying to improve on what God has already perfected. Calling it a constitutional right won't excuse those who oppose what God has already spoken against and there will be a reckoning for it, one day. Until that time Christians are to deal with others in love and not judgement. If you can get government and God completely separated from one another dont be surprised or complain when you are living in a God less society . Homosexuality wrong and I don't like it but their souls are God's to judge just like the rest of us are subject to. Great post Bill. Man can do and say whatever he wants about homosexuality but God says it is a sin. Man wont change Gods mind about it. Every man and woman will have their time before God one day where their works will be judged. He will sort it all out then.

Roy is a twit! He does what makes him money and keeps him in the news. He should be paying personally for all costs associated with his decision to mark his territory on public property like he did when he was elected to the AL supreme court the first time. He is all about Roy Moore. Why is the government in the marriage business anyway? If you want to get married go to the religious institution that you want get what ever piece of paper they provide and live happily ever after, hahahahahahahahahahahahaahaha! Oops, I didn't mean to laugh out loud.

No BODY or no THING or no PRACTICE is "before Christ". As a Libertarian minded guy I'm not even defending marriage from a political or legal standpoint, but I am calling you out on your horrific ignorance of Christianity. If you don't believe in Christianity, then move along, but I am gonna correct you about it. Christianity declares that God has no beginning nor end, he has always existed in perfect union as God the Father, God the Son (Christ), and God the Holy Spirit. His precepts therefore are boundary-less. God does create the union of marriage in scripture, and based on his declaration of Himself, the entirety of his revealed word has always existed in limitless eternity past. All of it existed "before the foundations of the earth". God is outside of time as you understand it. He doesn't "know the future", He is already in the future, simultaneously in the present and past as well. Omnipresence is the word.
Now, based on THAT clear and inarguable tenet of Christianity, shut up. Unless, that is, you do not believe in Christianity. In that case, I do not find ill will with you, I'm just telling what someone who does believe in it must believe.

Doekiller, I guess you missed this question I had earlier. Please set me straight on the Fed Gov involvement as I stated below, with regards to how it is being explained on talk radio. Thanks. I know how I feel about queers getting married, I'm against it big time, but don't know much about all the legal hoopla, other than hearsay on talk radio. Someone correct me if I am wrong but they are saying that the Federal Courts had already refused to define marriage in the past saying it was a state issue. Now that the states have defined it, the Fed wants to get involved and try to say it is now their business. Thats the short version of a 3-4 hour show. Doekiller, is that pretty much how it has happened or is that just typical media screwing up the facts?

Marriage predates Christainity. People of all religions and no religion have marriages. Marriage is NOT an exclusive Christian ideal.
Your premise is that man gets to define marriage and that man is the ultimate authority on how our society is governed. If we aren't a nation governed by biblical principles then we are a nation subject to abandonment by God. First, our government made it lawful to kill unborn babies because it's a woman's "right". Now we want to corrupt God's definition of marriage and call it a "right". The argument about it being like segregation is not valid. Segregation is not a sacred, God created, biblical tradition. We all have to choose what kind of society we want to live in. It isn't about denying rights. It's about recognizing the ultimate giver of all rights. Some acknowledge it as God and some choose to elevate man to the status of the ultimate authority.

I'm glad to see some fighting this, even though it's likely a losing battle. Let this liberal crap go through, then there's one less agenda to have forced on us a year or two from now by an unelected official. Maybe we should sit quietly when they put 5rd magazine limits on us, or a semi-automatic firearm ban because anyone fighting it might be grand standing.

Ikillbux and Bill,
Great posts!
As I've said before, without an actual Biblical worldview and a deep understanding of God then there is great misunderstanding and wrong interpretations. So it is on the gay marriage issue.

Many just can't handle "absolute truth." Many people, Christians included, think God's ways are outdated. They think man has a better way. Once God gives us over to our own depraved minds and perversions some , in this country, will beg for God's help and protection in the same breath they shun His Word.

Based upon some posts in here, what was considered immoral 40 years ago should now be accepted. You either have genuine morals or you don't. The test of time doesn't get to degrade morality.
