Marriage from a legal aspect is nothing more than a contract. Should one dude not be allowed to sell his house to another dude? Why then can he not legally give half of his stuff to another dude and sign a contract stating such?
He can. He can also go to work at places that will allow him benefits for his partner. Though that's their argument, that's not what they really want. They want to force everyone else to accept their lifestyle as normal. Unfortunately, they've got allies in the judicial system who will support them.
