the declaration of independence mentions something called "the pursuit of happiness." the constitution goes on to detail how this concept is to be exercised. now, just because one can PURSUE happiness here in these united states of america, under the laws provided for in the constitution, there is no guarantee that one can legally ATTAIN one's own brand of happiness. if practicing homosexuality makes you happy, you go ahead and pursue it - LEGALLY - all you want; just do not expect me to support your effort, legally or otherwise.

It's like a Klan meeting on here. The intolerance is out of control. People casting stones, judging others, etc.. Black, white, hispanic, Jewish, Christian, Buddhist, straight, gay, man, woman, etc al.....we are all Americans. Gay people have fought and died for this country so that you numbskulls can live in such a great country. I guess I should have known better, but the stereotypes of Alabama as a backwards ass place are reinforced by a lot posting here. Telling people they are going to hell, etc....lol. Wow, its really pathetic aND I found out that this definitely isn't the place for me. Racists, sexists, religious intolerance, etc... Hate to tell the haters that this is a free country, FREE! That means I and anybody else can practice any religion, sexual orientation, etc..without being targeted by idiots like many of you. I bet a lot of you do things behind closed doors that you wouldn't admit, but here you are judging others. Really sad. There is a long history of intolerance in the deep south, and I'm from the deep south and sometimes it's flat embarrassing when you see those stereotypes reinforced in real life. Hate on if you must but in this country we are free to do as WE as individuals choose. Don't like it, go to Syria, Iraq, Iran, Hitler's Germany or some other hell hole cuz you're obviously in the wrong place! I'm done here because I refuse to associate myself with ignorance. Don't let the door hit ya where your boyfriend split ya.
The true mark of a man is not how he conducts himself during times of prosperity, but how he conducts himself during times of adversity.

And I'm not a supporter of it by the way. Besides the fact of it being biblically and morally wrong, there's nothing in the US constitution that says you can't. Im just looking at it from a legal standpoint. You know, trying to see all sides of an argument. Using critical thinking skills. Use the "well our founding fathers were christian" argument. There's a reason they seperated church and state.

Its estimated that less than 2% of the population is gay. But the amount of coverage gays get on TV and in the news would lead you to believe that more like 50% of our population was gay. This is a liberal agenda being pushed relentlessly and we should not accept it as normal. Gays seem to be in every TV show and movie. If you believe it is normal you are decieved.

Yeah man, I understand that there's an agenda on nearly every single channel on TV. So what I did was just not buy cable. Haven't missed it since. I buy the TV shows and movies I want to watch on DVD then when I don't want to watch them anymore, I sell them or trade them for something else. It keeps me from dumping $100 a month into forcing myself to see that crap. If I want to watch a football game, I buy tickets or go somewhere to watch it. You can usually catch any important speeches on your smartphone. I haven't missed cable TV at all, not having it has provided me with more time to do productive things.

Anyone that doesn't acknowledge the FACT that Christian beliefs and morals based on THE BIBLE were a heavy influence on how the Constitution was written, is a revisionist moron. The founders included the Establishment clause so that the government couldn't force people to be in or accept a particular religion. Nothing says that religion can't or shouldn't affect how our elected leaders or our State's voters make decisions.

I just hope that one person tries talking to somebody they would normally judge without hearing them speak. Whether it be a person of a different religion, race, nationality, the evil queers, or income status. It don't hurt to be nice. Hell, you might even LEARN something.

Ruger, if not for the so-called establishment clause, we would all be Episcopalians/Anglicans like most of the men who set about establishing this nation ...

It also doesn't say elected officials have to be religion free. This country was founded primarily by Christians and the Constitution was influenced by their Christianity. Period.

I don't post a whole lot but let's keep it simple. Homosexuals don't believe in the bible, or most dont, so you can't use religion in the right and wrong. A man and man cannot make a baby. A woman and woman can't make a baby. Whether you believe in the bible and what it teaches or not, this is point blank fact. That's all the proof I need. To the ones pro gay, shoot me down all you want. I'll take care of me and my own.

From Webster dictionary. Respecting: about or relating to (something).
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion..." Just like I don't want Islamic based laws, some people don't want christian based laws. I don't support gays, never have. But I see what the road could lead to 100-200 years from now if we let religion-based laws govern the free nation. Seeing how ISIS uses religious beliefs has helped me come to this stance.

This is why we have laws, some want it...some don't. Ya'll have all had your say on this topic so I'm closing it.
