What kinda bullets and powder charge that didn't pass through both rib cages with a .308? I shoot some heavy bucks and always get a pass through broad side , 90 degrees behind the shoulder with SSTs out of a .308.


I'm shooting a 25-06 with 117gr. SST's. 1st buck (230lbs) shot at 40 yds. in the shoulder. Bullet went through one shoulder and didn't hit the opposite shoulder. No blood and he ran about 50 yds. 2nd deer (doe) would have been a tough pass through for any caliber and bullet...long ways. 3rd deer (200lbs) shot at 120 yards through ribs. Went through both sides of ribs and lodged under the skin with no exit. 2nd shot through one hindquarter and lodged in the other. No blood and ran about 70 yds.

Nosler partitions won't shoot out of my gun worth a dang. Per BrentM and 257 I will be trying Barnes next.
