Anyone know the shelf life for black powder? The other day I found a box of accessories for my dad's old black powder rifle. In it, was a can of powder. This stuff has to be at least 10 or 15 years old. If I pour some on the ground, light it, and it burns right up, can I assume it is still ok to shoot?

lasts for way over 15 years if kept dry....
I've spent most of the money I've made in my lifetime on hunting and fishing. The rest I just wasted.....

As long as it stays dry and away from moisture its still good.I have several cans over 20 yrs old.
