Saw very few deer. My son managed to take a doe, so it was a good trip.
There were some scrapes. No roadkill deer, we only saw 2 deer while driving at dusk/dawn for 4 days. While at the processor someone was dropping off a spike. His hocks were not dark, and he didn't smell at all.
The rut is not on yet from what I saw.

Beer belly, we had a big 8 killed on our club yesterday and I saw a big 10 pt that was killed in Paxton yesterday as well. Watched a 6 this morning cruise across my backyard. Couldn't get out to get on him before he was gone. While I was hunting this afternoon in Glendale just to your south, my wife texted me to tell me the 6 was back in the backyard again, lol. Our mean conception dates are Feb 7, earliest conception Jan 26 and latest March 2, so it's gonna start any day now. Supposed to get a cold front Thursday night so it should be ON this weekend through Valentines Day. Last year I killed two bucks the first week of Feb that were both locked up with does. Good luck!

WCH, you and Beer Belly might be interested, about 4 miles north of DeFuniak Springs on Hwy 83 a new processor has opened this year that is good. I dropped off two bucks up there yesterday and he has a nice place and his prices are VERY good.

I've got a buddy hunting my place who has never killed much less cleaned a deer. As you know I'm on call a lot and I'm not always here were I can give him a hand if he kills one, so that would be a great option for him if I'm not available. P.S. I saw were Braidon killed a nice buck, was that a FL or Bama buck?

Go see him at 10 Point Processing, Hwy 83 Dfs. He has a Facebook page too if u need his info.

Yes he does but he charges hefty to gut. I killed a buck a few weeks ago before school and didn't have time to gut and skin before work. He charged me $35 to gut and skin. Otherwise it would have been $48 for a 120 lb. buck. He told me he does not like to make a habit of gutting, but will if absolutely necessary.
