The more I think about 10x10 I don't think that is necessary. Maybe 5x10 or 6x10. I'm thinking I could Just build it sturdier and bunk hang a couple of hammocks to get more space.
Carpet on the floor is a good idea. I'm intending on eventually insulating it. Insulation is cheap and that would cut down on the noisy kid transmission if I take one during hunting season.
I was thinking 4x4 pressure treated wood for the columns and then 2x8's for the floor joists. Plywood for the subfloor. Then 2x4 wood studded walls. Might have to reinforce with some cross bracing if I hang hammocks. I'm 205 lbs.
Anyone ever have they're house knocked over by high winds? What do you do to prevent this? concrete foundation, etc. angle the main columns?
Placement wise it would be about 40 to 50' up a hill from the greenfield we hunt on. Then we have another clearing another 100 to 75' up the hill from that that we usually camp at. Planning on scouting the location a little more when hunting season concludes and before the spring growth starts to put leaves on the trees and brush. Probably take a ladder and lean it up on some trees to see where the best vantage point is. I want to be in the woods but with a clear view of the field. longest distance shot to the field would be 150' (to the far end).
I'm going to shingle the roof. Rain on a tin roof would be louder than I want.
Obviously I have a lot of ideas. The budget would be limited so I'll likely do this thing in phases.
What is skylining? Is that where they could see your silouette through the window?
