At my place the deer don't like slick pastures that much. Its hard to see them in the tall stuff so the best thing to do is bush hog right before season starts to give it enough time to get about waste high. They like to bed in the fields on cold sunny days if they have enough cover. We also cut lanes. More for us than the deer but they walk them.
