I bought a new trap at co-op yesterday afternoon to help take care of a problem I have been having here around the house. I set my trap yesterday afternoon about an hour before dark and knew from past experiences in trapping this ferocious animal that I would need a trap that would kill quick to prevent them from breaking out of the trap and escaping. I checked the trap at dark yesterday and at first light this morning and it did not have anything in it and had not been tripped. I got home today and cracked open a cold beer and went to check the trap and had a nice one in the trap and it was stiffer than a board. I guess in all of its struggles that it killed itself trying to get out of the trap. I suspect there are more of them so I will stay after them and try to rid my place of all of them in the next few weeks. I took a few pics to share with you all and get your opinions on age and what it will score. I think it is a 6.5 year old that has gone down hill. It had a saggy belly, roman nose, and it's teeth were wore out. I don't know how it was even eating. I think I will skin it out and try to make the wife a new coat when I get enough of them saved up. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

That trap is clearly marked "Rat Trap".
That is no Rat.
Are there no ethics in trapping?

I thought the bear traps would be to big and tear the hide up to bad. I just bought the biggest rat trap that co-op had and went with it. I caught one in a glue trap in the basement one time and it raised hell with that glue trap stuck to it's arse. Tore to much hair off of the pelt too when I tore it off. The trap is reset now with some crunchy peter pan peanut butter.

I think that must have been the only one because I haven't caught anything in the last few days. It was an old one so lets hope he was just roaming looking for a new home range where he could just die in peace.

I ran a rat trap a few months ago trying to catch a couple 'munks I saw. I baited it with PB like you did. I never did get the 'munk but it killed 3 or 4 birds that made the mistake of pecking on it.

I know I wouldn't have many fingers left if I actually trapped. That dang rat trap is a SOB when you get PB on the trigger thingy.
