Can you eat those catfish that are caught below Logan Martin dam?
I took my boys there on Saturday morning for some striper fishing and we caught several and kept just a few to eat. I filleted them and I'm excited to to eat them. Would anyone advise me not to eat those stripers?
I caught a catfish and wanted to keep him but I threw that rascal back b/c of the fear of eating a catfish from those waters.
You know?!?!?!??! It's a damn shame we even have to ask such a question as no company should have the right to pollute our streams and fines for doing so should be EXTREMELY significant fines!!!

Can't be any worse than eating catfish raised in a pond. If you know all the stuff they put in a catfish pond you would not eat one that came out of it.

I attended an Alabama Water Conference several years ago and they had a speaker from UNC that was an expert in fish studies/ toxins in fish. After his talk I asked about eating fish from public waters from Alabama. He advised that if someone only ate fish less than a few times a month the risk was not that great. He did say that if he had children up to girls of child bearing ages not to let them eat allot of fish. He told me that at my age of around 45 yrs old not to worry about it unless I was going to be eating allot of fish. He did tell me not to eat allot of tuna, sword fish, king mackerel, as they were loaded with mercury. I asked about freshwater fish and he said minnow eating fish like bass, stripes, crappie would most always test higher than catfish. I eat fish probably less than 2/3 times a month counting eating out at restaurants, eat fish that I have caught less than once a month anyway, I give away allot of fish and always advise about the risks.... If you�re eating vegetables from overseas or any food products from anywhere other than USA it�s a crap shoot anyway... I eat the fish I catch, never worry about it...

I love fishing there, but I hate the water. Too much jet ski traffic makes it smell like gas.
