we've had a very similar experience and so have our neighbors. My guess is the abundance of acorns this year. I watched 2 does and 2 fawns this morning for over an hour. They stayed in the exact same place and ate acorns the entire time�probably didn't take more than 10 steps before filling up and moving on. I'm still scratching my head at the lack of mature buck sightings b/c even with all the food, the mature bucks should have been on their feet at some point chasing. In two weeks of hunting hard we've only had 3 or 4 mature buck sightings. frustrating to say the least.
