We are leaving in the morning to hunt some COE land and maybe a little management area. Also planning on going back around the 22nd. I've seen deer chasing down there this early in January before and I've seen them start a few weeks later. What kind of rut activity are you fellas seeing?

Getting a little interested on my place in Demopolis, but not full blown yet.
Will track deer in Marengo, Greene, Sumter, Wilcox, Perry, Hale counties.

I normally go back to Thomaston/Hugo:Dayton around the 3rd week in Jan and typically see some chasing. All the locals tell me it gets even better later. I have a trip scheduled around the 28th this year. I would love to be in the stand tomorrow though....weather looks right!!!!

If you want, you can give me the keys to your place and I will let you know when they turn on.

My son rattled one in last Thursday, he was stinking and his neck was starting to swell. We are in Northeast Marengo.

Saw a couple buck that chased some does for a minute then went right back feeding. Did see a buck make a scrape the other day though.
It isn't necessary to see a good tackle...you can hear it.
