He was one of the last group, the pic was about an hour latter. Toted out on a neck strap.
Wouldn't believed it had I not been there. The dog's expression is pretty much the same as ours was. One guy gave chase for a few steps.
We figure he was slightly hit in the breast and fell. Must have been in shock since the dog retrieved it and was tossed to one of the straps.
One guy did say I thought he was alive when I put him on the tailgate, seen him blink.
We double check now.

Thats crazy. I had something kind of similar happen around 3 weeks ago. I shot a huge beautiful widgeon drake. He hit the water like a box of rocks. Anyways I started working another group of ducks about 5 minutes later and look to my right where the widgeon was and he isnt there and I look up and flying down the break about 60 yds away is widgeon drake. He had is head under the water when I shot and wasn't moving at all. I had already decided how he was going on my wall.
