I haven't been to Wheeler in over a month because of out of state hunts and the rut at my place here in Blount Co. I was wondering if anyone has been seeing any rutting activity, particularly the south side of the river. This is my first year to hunt Wheeler and from what I've been told things usually heat up around mid January. Thanks!

Ribs starting to show. No scrapes yet but a few rubs. Saw 3 bucks last week with an hour of each other.

Preciate it. With this being my first year hunting Wheeler and first year to hunt swamps, does anyone have any tips on how and where to set up in a swamp?

Stay on waters edge. Get a north wind. I've found most refuge deer stay close to waters edge. Least where I hunt anyway. Or look for high spots near edge of water/swamps. Usually there will be some oaks there and they would tend to feed there. This is in my experience.

Orange army doing any good out on Wheeler? Almost think a bow would be more reliable than those flintlocks. I'm guessing buck only has discouraged the flintlockers a little bit.
