LL Bean 12" insulated hunting boots. Waterproof, great in mud as well as good traction. My .02 worth.

I came, I saw, so I killed them all......Vern

I have a pair of thorogood leather boots on today. They aren't my hunting boots but are all leather, hand made in the USA. Just getting mine broke in good and love to wear them.

If I am hoofing it n the mtns, I wear leather boots that are good on rocks and such and pack my boot blankets if it's cold.

i've been wearing a pair of BassPro redhead "danner" type hiking boots. nice, wide sold, fairly stiff, good traction. they really, really help with balance. the left side of my left foot is mostly numb - and always will be - because of a nerve biopsy several years ago.
the stiff sole, i think, gives my left foot sufficient base that the lack of feeling is largely negated.
these boots do not feel particularly comfortable, but i get no hotspots, and they are dew-proof (ain't no ankle high boots waterproof, if you know what i mean).
they have some thinsulate insulation (200 grams?). a single pair of wool or wool-blend socks is sufficient ...
