What kind of lock on do you use and why? I'm looking at the millennium m100u. I like that you can use different bases to hang it from but I don't know how practical it would moving it around to different trees. The initial cost is a little higher but I'm thinking it would pay off in the long run.

Millennium stands are the best I my opinion. They are the most comfortable stand I've ever sat in.you can hang multiple receivers and ladders and only have one actual stand and be able to hang multiple sets.

They've got real good reviews. How hard is it to set it in the receiver ?

It's super easy. I'm sitting in one right now. If you get a millenium you won't want to sit in any other lock ons. I just have a pile of receivers and I carry my stand in and out when I hunt.

I will go to great lengths to climb instead of using a loc-on. However, I concur with y'all about the Milleniums. Granted, all I own (and basically never use) are the cheap Strong Built or Gorilla ones from Wal-Mart. They always have them marked down to like $25 after hunting season, so I used to always buy one. Now I've got about 6 or 8 just hanging in the barn.

Am I the only person who annually hangs one (or two) and then never hunt it?? I swear I don't. I've got this one hung right now, and haven't used it a single time this year, and most likely won't.

If you ever buy a Millennium and hunt out of it I think your opinion would change about hunting out of a loc on after it's hung.

I've never been a big fan of the bracket system on the mellinnium. I can never seem to take advantage of the comfort cause the stand has always been so loose on the tree.

I've used just about every brand on the market over the years and have gone exclusively to Millenniums. They are the only stand I can sit in all morning. They are expensive but I usually buy one or two every year at the Buckmasters show and I don't leave them up all season.

I don't use multiple brackets. It's too much work, I just hang one stand in one bracket and I'm done with it. I always attach a ratchet strap to the base to eliminate looseness on the tree.

Exactly what I do. I do have 4 OlMan lock-ons that are comfortable as well, just heavy. I'm progressing to all millinium.

I've owned lots of them. I recently bought 4 of the millennium monsters and sold my others. I'm going to get 3-4 more later. Life's too short to sit in uncomfortable stands.

I've got one, I think it's a "Strong Built", that I bought 8 or 10 years ago it seems. It's a BIG loc on with a padded sling seat and a full wrap-around padded shooting rail. It's like a Sunday recliner, but it's a $^&#%$ to hang. Not good for bowhunting b/c it's difficult to stand up in, but for gun hunting (say on a plot or cutover) it's the bee's knees!

I have one Millennium, didn't buy it , I won it , they are fine. If I only had a couple of spots thats all I'd have. However, I have prolly 30 loc ons that stay up, so 30 Millenniums would get in my wallet. My favorite to leave up is the old Gorilla King Kong, that's the big ones that came with a chain. Wish I'd bought a truck load of them about 10 years ago.

I don't own a Millenium, and as 2dogs already said, i would go broke buying them. I have about 20 stands up at my club and another 10 at my farm. My favorite is a 36"x36" metal loc-on with swivel boat seat and hand rail all the way around. I can sit in it all day long. Once you get used to a swivel seat and a rifle rest, it makes you not want to hunt from anything else. A friend of mine made them for about $150. I have 2 of them. There's a lock-on at sportsmans guide for $59 that has a sling seat hat is real comfy, and you can add a rifle rest for about $25.

I gotta admit, I have fear bowhunting from a lock on. I just feel unbalanced, like I'm gonna fall trying to draw my bow.

Same here. It's not trouble at all to tote the stand in and out.

There is a trick to installing the chain receiver on the tree correctly and snug. If you look on your bracket you will see "UP" stamped into the metal. I hang the receiver in a backwards position with enough slack in the chain to roll the receiver in a downward position which tightens the chain and positions the receiver in the correct orientation. The stamped "UP" should now be on top and on the back side of receiver towards tree. If bottom of stand is a little unstable install a ratchet strap. The M150 monster and M50's come with straps for the bottom. The original M100 does not so I use a ratchet on those types.

I high suggest you practice installing you chain receiver on a tree while you are still on the ground. Get proficient at it and it easy as can be when you are hanging from a tree. I also high recommend a harness with a line mens belt so you can use both hands.

Note: If chain is to tight it will not allow you to roll the receiver. There is a fine line with the correct amount of slack to allow the roll and getting it tight. I personally like the new ratchet receivers because I can get those tight the first try.
