Been over 30 mb here lately where I hunt. Not sure about everyone else but I am seeing more deer than normal. From what I have read and seen myself is if the pressure is 30.0 to 30.40 mb you need to be in the woods.

30.27 right now at the house. Should be a good morning if they don't move all night.

That's actually one weather metric I have not paid a lot of attention to. I would assume the cold weather alone would get deer movement up, since it has been relatively warm for a few days until recently. It would be nice to know what the Bar pressure has been on the hunts I have taken notes on through the years.

I've never been much on moon tables and such for animal movement but rising and falling barometric pressures have interested me. It just makes sense to me that an animal can sense pending storms through rising and falling barometric pressure and this would influence movement.

In my old club in Greene County, we kept a log book of every deer killed for 14 years. We would document the temperature, pressure and weather. On almost every deer killed the pressure ranged from 29.9 to 30.1. If it was rising or falling in that range, someone brought a deer back to the camp.

Jus looked back at the pressure today and i saw deer from 8 to 9 oclock . The pressure increased to its highest at that time ! The pressure was very low this evening and ... 3 of us were hunting and saw absolutely nothing ! I wonder where you can get the barometric forecast if there even is one ?

I saw 12 this Am. Same field this Pm zero. Woods were just dead on what I felt like was prettiest weather I've had in a while. I believe baro pressure effects them very much. They don't have the weather channel to watch!!!

I have noticed on an app for my phone that has the lunar tables with the peak feeding times that every time I'm in the woods these are usually pretty close. I have seen at least one deer within an hour of the times listed on these charts but I just assume it's I'm at the right place by coincidence but who knows. So many variables that can affect deer movement . I just try to tell myself no matter the conditions I know I can't get one from my couch lol

you can mark stands, wind direction, lunar tables and barometric pressure. I have seen a lot more deer during rising and falling pressures.

Don't need an app, look at the pastures. When the cows are laying down the fish won't bite. Does the same apply to hunting? I don't have a clue but I'm sure hunting pressure has a lot to do with movement too.

Same here. Cows moving has nothing to do with the deer moving or fish biting

Have no cows or pond!! I am in trouble for sure!!!

I don't have any cows to check before going, but I have noticed that when in the woods if the squirrels, birds, and other critters are not moving and the woods are tomb quiet, I usually do not see a deer. But, once the other critters fire up, I usually see deer. So there is something that is influencing animal movement to a degree.

Yep, if the critters are out and about the deer usually are too! When you don't see so much as a bird, you know the day is going to suck.

Maybe I'm missing something but you said the hunting was best between 30 and 30.4 I got really interested and checked the yearly data and discovered that this time of the year the BP is in that range EVERYDAY! Only a couple times per month does it fall below 30.0.....now I'm confused. Moral of the story is deer are supposed to move great almost always??

They will move good when the pressure is rising or falling.

The mornings have been good now, because the moon is still up well after daylight. Afternoon hunts will probably be better next to bedding areas.
