With the month of December in full force I think it would be a great tool to have a thread to keep check of the rut/rut activity here in Alabama. Let's try and keep this thread going throughout the year. Format posts as in the example below so that we can stay organized.
Location: Selma, Cullman, Aliceville, etc. Date: 12/7/14 Rut activity: scrape checking, increase in rubs, chasing does, etc. when was last year's rut? Photo: show us your trophy Kill info: what were your keys to success? Rattle, scent, decoy, call, does, food source, etc. Other: any additional helpful information.
Spread the word. Let's get some mileage out of this post and help each other out.
The buck stops here.

Young bucks scraping and chasing in the bessemer/mccalla area. Only heard of one deer older than 2.5's have been seen chasing. Older bucks are still with other bucks.

Prelim scrapes by young bucks in Dallas County. Bucks are no longer in bachelor groups but no major rut sign. Yet...

Cameras in St Clair showing older bucks still feeding together. Haven't had any time on stand to comment on any chasing.

Guy hunting coosa near the mgt area killed a buck with a swollen neck and dark glands today. Chilton very few rubs no scrapes yet that I've found.
Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

Winston Co. Young bucks chasing, found 80-100 scrapes last Thursday and Friday had a buck come to doe pee Friday. My best friend killed a mature buck chasing in this exact same place a year ago from this past Thursday. Pretty consistent year to year!
Where I hunt in St Clair the bucks are still grouped together. Seeing no sign.

In Marshall County they are still in the smaller 2 to 3 groups except, the larger bucks are in that vanishing stage until Christmas probably. Predict to be cold winter, don't skip that 10-2 window.
