There is really no theft proof method. I've seen equipment, four wheelers and UTVs stolen from inside barns, Connex boxes, and behind various locked gates with locks cut, gates torn off hinges. Investigators have told me that many of these type thefts are often done by larger theft rings operating in several states. Certainly you have your local snatch and grab crowd, but it often takes an out of state fencing operation to sell UTVs and Buggies. Bottom line, if you want to prevent theft, don't leave it at your camp.

Be careful leaving it for extended periods of time. We have had rats / squirrels do some major damage on wiring.

Leave it out in plain sight and ready for them to take it. If its to easy for them to take they get scared. Always left my Rhino at one of the farms in Lowndes never would lock it up and left the keys in it. Come back the next day fresh tracks in the road and figure it would be gone people just drove right on by it.

Barry -
1. Dig a 4' deep hole - use a 3-point post hole digger
2. Get a 12' piece of logging chain
3. Put chain in hole centering with a pipe - leaving 8' available to connect to ATV/UTV
4. Fill hole with concrete
5. Buy GOOD lock and wrap chain around axle and lock (park the ATV/UTV as close or even on top of the buried chain).
If you go this route, DO NOT lose the key.

A buddy of mine got tired of people stealing deer stands,(he lost 6).He bought a gps device,that was as big as a pack of cigarettes.He took the seat cover off and carved out a section That it would fit in.He installed the gps and replaced the seat cover.The next weekend the stand was gone.He contacted the local sheriffs dept,and they followed the gps signal to a residence.After some time the home owner admitted to having the stand but that was the only one he had ever taken.Even though the man didn't admit to stealing the stand he was charged with trespassing and theft.The funny thing was the next weekend one of his stands showed back up.
