I keep mostly the same stuff in the boat since we hunt corps land on the river. Going to add those hobo heater toilet paper rubbing alcohol in a paint can deals. I made a couple the other day and it burnt almost two hours on 16 ounces of alcohol. It don't take but a second to get that thing burning either

Basically you pull the cardboard out of roll of toilet paper and shove it into a small paint can. (You can get them from lowes or other hardware store) pour the rubbing alcohol on the toilet paper and let it saturate the toilet paper and light it. I keep the smaller can inside the bigger cans just for safety. You can choke it down with the smaller lid and it will burn longer it holds a ton of heat doesn't smoke or give off a smell. I'm going to eventually have one in all our vehicle. Only costs a couple dollars. Especially if you use an empty soup can and a metal coffee can. Some people tape a lighter or matches to the side of the small can and just leave them like that. Saw that one article said a guy lit one he had made ten years ago and it still worked. Worth taking the five minutes to build could save your life. Saw where people use them for shooting house heaters too. I warmed up a can of ravioli on mine and had it boiling in just a few mins.

The toilet paper is basically a wick. If the toilet paper starts burning put it out and add more alcohol

Pea Ridge has been on Caps Lock for about 7 years now. I would think that by now y'all would know that he's at work and can't change it.

I'm lucky, i guess. I have cell coverage where i hunt, and i always keep a good battery charged, and as ya'll know, i don't use the phone on the stand, so it stays charged. The valley of the damned, as i call it, is the only place that causes me pause. Anytime i go there, my son knows exactly where i will be and i call him when i come out. On our club, we pin out for a specific stand, not an area, so if your not out at a specific time, we know where your at. When hunting with someone else, we never leave until they are out of the woods, as well. This came in handy about 20 years ago. A friend shot a doe, and hurt his back fooling with her, and he couldn't get to his truck. Another member knew where he was and waited for him at an intersection. He waited for 30 minutes after dark, and went looking for him. This was before everybody had cell phones. He yelled out and my friend responded. He was so grateful, that someone came looking for him. He helped him to the truck, and loaded his deer for him. Another advantage to a small club, where everybody knows everybody. Be safe.

I'm not being a smart ass , but I carry a compass and have never been lost for long. I keep a knife, water, toilet paper, change of clothes, and a lighter in my backpack anyway though.

As far as what to carry, some different medicines can make a big difference.
Once I carried a canoe across country because my buddy fell ill with a migraine the first night of a float trip.
I also got hit with a stomach virus once when 3 miles from camp. Something to stop the puking would have been a big help then. I was nearly dehydrated by the time I got to camp , and I wasn't even lost.
