This is for those that travel outside of Alabama to hunt whitetails.

Where do you go(what State(s)) and why did you choose it?

Is the area you hunt a draw hunt?

Does it have any other restrictions(type of weapon, antler, or # of bucks allowed)?

How would you rate your experience on the hunt?

Land between the Lakes. I heard about it a few years ago and thought the concept was cool. I thought "Those deer are surrounded by water, it will be easy!". Haha! Not so much. Its 170,000 acres.

Bow only, they do have a quota hunt that you apply for and are given an area to stay in if you get drawn. No antler restrictions. 1 buck and 1 doe limit

Rating? I'd say you get out of the trip what you put in it.....very similar to Alabama public land. There are ag fields but they get hammered. Also don't expect to shoot a booner every trip, although know the potential is there. It really is beautiful land up there. Get a buddy or two to go with you and you'll have a blast. Kill or no kill.

I've been going for 3 years now, learning more each time. Seen deer and shooters every year. Maybe I will get to release one this year.

Family land in Mississippi. Grenada and Warren counties. Why? It's simple. Because the state manage's their herd so they can grow bigger bucks. Definitely a 10 compared to Alabama.

Wisconsin. Buddy of mine has family and we went up there 2 years ago to hunt the first 2 days of their 8 day gun season. Shot a 230 pound doe so that was crazy for me coming from here in North Alabama. Great hunting and great people. Going back to do the same thing this year so I'm lookin forward to that.

Mississippi. Another buddy is in a club down close to Hattiesburg and me and 4 of my friends have been going down there for 7 days for the past 5 years. Not the best hunting in the world. See a ton of deer but the bucks are usually just spike to small 6 points but it's great to have a gettaway with good friends.

Kentucky. Private land that a friend of mine leases. 130" minimum. Its one buck a year, and all the does you want. Over the counter tags, extra doe tags are $15 for two. i would rate it a 10

I go to Kentucky... Big buck potential is why I go. Last year I hunted LBL got skunked... This year I hunted Ft Campell in September and got a doe. Im headed back that way Wednesday about 1 am.

PIA to hunt. You have call in times to get an area. (Not easy at all 2k+ Active Duty call in everyday and limited areas to hunt)

Bow, Muzzle loader, and shotgun only

Must kill a doe to get a buck

For me its the best option for the money. Tennessee lets active duty on leave hunt free. I can use that at Ft Campbell because its in both states. I get first call in. They have a nice camp ground and nice cabins to stay in. Plus I can shop on base and save money that way. This trip last time I did for under 300 with two people. This time I am going alone so it will cost me about 350..
