I'd give them one chance. Tell them to keep their mutt put up or he's gonna go to the pound. If they continue to let him run wild, treat him like a wild dog. SSS

Might as well shoot his horse too if he has one. Surely yall wouldnt shoot a mans dog. Talk to the owner. Now if it was agressive towards a human thats a different story. As far as deer I bet that dog didnt mess anything up anyway as long as he was just passing through.

Killed a bunch of deer after dogs came through. To deer their just another critter in the woods.

As far as deer I bet that dog didnt mess anything up anyway as long as he was just passing through. I'd hate to, but dangit, keep your dogs in a fence or in the house! Never seen anyone let a horse out to roam. Let's just say you have a 16 year old daughter, or kid that loves animals. Dogs especially. This dog runs out in front of their car and they swerve to miss it, and the worst thing happens. What now? It's not just about messing up a hunt. I know that situation may be far fetched, but crazier things have happened. Put a fence up and don't worry about it.

Not I Troy! Hunting dogs are different to me. They get away from the hunters and I understand that. House dogs that run wild are a liability in more ways than one and need to be kept up. Simple as that.

GP, you mention Love your neighbor in yours, than call him a azzhole because his dog walked past you.. and if that excuse don't work you blame other people, old men, and family members.. Whats next? The wind?? Johnal3, yours says common sense aint so common, maybe you are right, maybe you need to go hunt some. I have never in my life heard of anyone, wrecking for a dog, then you say people are terrible for not having a fence up for a yard dog... I guess it's that time of the year again, all the Democrats start coming back on board.. Wow, come on gun season. Dear Lord, please help out all these miserable people on Aldeer, that makes excuses cause they can't see deer....

Daniel, I won't argue about it. I guess you don't hear much about wrecks while farming. In my profession, I've seen squirrels, deer, dogs, cats, etc. make people wreck. And I hunt plenty! Not as much as I'd like, but enough. Havent had a problem seeing deer either. I never said anything about anybody being a terrible person because they didn't put a fence up?? But I would think it's common sense to put a fence up, or keep your dog on your property if you own one. Is that too much to ask??

Oh, and I've been on this board for quite a while now, fairly consistent. I don't put on gay dove shoots, therefore I don't "stick out" as much as some.  And democrat? Ha! Really??

Also the dog didn't pass through, he followed me in and played around my stand from 2pm to dark chasing rabbits and squirrels and barking. With that said, he was not aggressive in fact he was very friendly and playful. So he got a pass....next time I'll know to just come in a different route so he doesn't see me.

And if hunting at night or out of season, often on someone else's land you've been told multiple times to stay off of, doesn't qualify someone as an azzhole, then I don't know what does

It ain't the first time the dogs been there, the deer are used to him & might slip up & get comfy and walk in after he leaves. I don't shoot a mans dog unless it poses a threat. I've been pissed watching a neighbors dogs run deer round & round like anyone, but it really ain't the dogs fault, it's the sorry assed owner. I've known a lot of smart dogs but never met one that could read a Posted sign...

Yeah shooting a collared dog is a bunch of bull crap . Take it up with teh owner how would you like it if some one shot your kids dog. Now if it's a stray , wild or you've talked to the owner then do what you got to do

I commend you for not shooting someones dog, 100 yards from road across from someones house should come with expectations of an urban hunt. Some of these comments are pretty messed up.
