Congratulations! Great deer, gun, or bow. Tell us the story. Did you know he was there?

I've been hunting him for the last two years. I've got tons of pictures of him the last two years but that was the first time I've seen him in person. I checked my cameras last Saturday around lunch time and saw he had slipped into a green field late afternoon the two previous evenings. I had a ground blind that I sat in that had been brushed in for a couple of weeks and slipped in there a little before three pm. He had been traveling with a young six pointer for a couple of months and about twenty five minutes before dark the six pointer stepped into the field. It wasn't a minute or so and here he came right behind him. I shot him at 23 yards with the buck broadsided. I could tell he was hit hard but gave him about an hour and went over and found a great blood trail. I shot him with a rage extreme and I believe Ray Charles could have tracked him. The arrow was a clean pass through so there was blood on both sides of the trail he went down. Found where he laid down about thirty yards in and tried to get up and only went another eight to ten yards and crashed into some brush. I've hunted for almost forty years and can honestly say it was the greatest experience I've had in the woods.

It's not a Passion, it's an Obsession. That's what I tell my wife, but she promptly informs it's a disease to which is incurable.

I was gonna call you a bad name considering how long it took me to get a deer close to that. But good for you! Congrats!

Sweet goodness. My first was a 40lb fawn that I'd have sworn was full grown since I'd never seen a deer so close before. My nervousness sent an arrow so far back that it went through both hind quarter and we found her cause she eventually bled out.
I remember mine like it was yesterday and I'm sure you'll always remember yours too.

Congrats, and I agree with the others, it will likely take a while to top that one. But with a bow, any deer kill is a trophy to me.
