well i just looked at rules and regs... and hacking trails is not allowed!!...hmmm but i will take this advice and put it to good use in a legal manner.
Dont hack...use Pruning Shears or some Loppers.
Almost all thick stuff will have ares that are thinner than others, Deer will use these areas to travel. Find them and set up on them. Like advised before, Goggle Earth can be useful in finding these thinned ares, usually slightly higher in elevation than surrounding areas.
