im gonna be new to Alabama starting November 1st. just wondering how many of you go coyote hunting and how is the coyote hunting?

I got into it early this spring. Bought a cottontail in distress mouthpiece and called one in within 10 minutes of my first stand. Have not had a bit of luck since then, but they are certainly around. Only did so much during the summer because of the heat, snakes, and ticks. May try again this fall.

ive never got one, gotten close but no cigar. hoping my luck will change in alabama

I've called in a yote bobcat and gray fox on the few occasions I've done it. The fox and bobcat got a little to close for comfort though. It's tuff hunting predators in some of our wooded areas in bama.

bobcat?! that would be cool dont get them around the part of ny state im from. is there people in alabama who buy the furs?

Southern fur isn't worth much of anything

Ou winters aren't cold enough and the hides and fur don't get thick enough. I used to buy deer hides flesh and salt them then sell them to a buyer up north. We'd pay seventy five cents to a dollar then if it was a good year sell them for $5. It's crazy how much thicker the hide is on a northern deer and the hair would nearly be as long as my fingers

Beadlescomb is 100% right. Also mange and rubbed up hides keep alabama coyote pelt prices low. Years back, in a better fur market. Southern prime= thats us. Brought 8 dollars for a GOOD coyote with even colors. The average was 6 dollars according to NFTA. So 5 dollars for Excellent coyote pelts will be average I would say!

You spend enough time in the woods and you will get shots at yotes. I've killed a bunch deer hunting, but a few, maybe 5, I've called in after I've seen them.

I killed one with my bow as it just came walking by my tree.

I never pass a shot at a coyote. Killem all.

only $5? in ny they can sell depending on how nice the fur is anywhere from $15-$35 if you go to the right guy. but thats okay, ill be shooting the coyotes when im down there to keep them away from my step dads cow farm

Coyotes are bad around here. A good foxpro will do well. I have called in my share in south bama but only a few at the farm. Shot a few deer hunting but much more fun if you can catch them early in the morning before they head home to sleep or in the evening when they start to fire off.

in alabama you cant night hunt which is crazy cause thats the best time! and my step dad was tellin me in alabama they are every where so i hope to get rid of the some of them

You can night hunt coyotes in alabama with the proper paper work. We have been killing hogs and coyotes at night with 3rd generation nightvision gear for years! You cant do it during deer season though.

okay and night vision! wish i could afford that kinda gear
