When you go in to check cameras, are you as quiet and scent free as you would be when hunting? Do you wear hunting clothes that blend in with your surroundings?
IMHO if you're not in hunting mode when checking cameras or hanging/moving stands then your presence is obvious to deer, and any other wild creature that's leary of humans.
Personally, with daylight hours dwindling I believe the photo period is coming in to play and deer are moving into their fall and winter patterns. I'm not a biologist but it seems like every year, about the beginning of October, these same things occur. It's time for them to spend more hours up and moving in the dark.
