Anyone have any info on renting a lime spreader for an atv? Between mobile and Thomasville or nearby? Any help greatly appreciated! Thank ya!

Are you using pelletized lime? If so, you can probably use a regular 3-point spreader or your ATV spreader.
I have heard some co-ops will allow you rent their spreaders if you are using pulverized lime (I've never done it, so I might be completely wrong.)

We bought our lime from the COOP(pulverized) and they let you use their spreader trailer for free with a minimum purchase. Alot cheaper than buying bagged lime.

I don't want to go pelletized this time,I'm looking for pulverized...but By spreader are you talking about a spreader lime buggy? What co-op ? I'm trying to figure out if a large drop spreader for an atv or truck would be easier since the roads to the plots have some large berms and are steep...maybe to steep for a lime buggy. Anyone know who will deliver bulk lime to Lamison,Al bagged?

We used a local COOP(Tuscaloosa County). You should be able to find somebody in your area. I pulled the trailer to the site with my truck, then hooked to the tractor to spread the lime.

Bump...  Seriously. If the plots not to big I have put it out by hand. Or get you a old spreader dropper. People use to use the. Them have small openings in the bottom and you set your opening and it drops it out the bottom.

I have used the Selma Coop buggy before. But for smaller fields I just use the 3pt. spreader on my tractor. No problem unless it gets wet. Get a load on a trailer, shovel in 5 gallon buckets, and dump in the spreader. You just want to be the one on the tractor, not the one with the shovel and bucket.

Remember it takes about 6 months for the lime to penetrate the soil.

When we hunted south of Linden, it seems we used a buggy from the folks in Sweet Water. They loaded it, we pulled it to the club with a pickup, then hooked it to a tractor to do the spreading.

Yea, Had an eye out for a drop spreader but just cannot find one to rent or borrow. Anyone have the Sweetwater places number? Or the Selma co-op that has the buggys?

I've called 3 different counties (Morgan, Cullman, Marshall) today looking for a co-op with a lime buggy and nobody has one. I guess we may have to do the trailer with tarps and shovels.

I stopped worrying with the coops & buggy's. Just get you some liquid lime. I put it out with my atv sprayer. 2 1/2 gallons per acre will raise your PH 1 point. I believe it was called Mojo Lime. 5 gallon buckey is $80
