Hunting from a boat or walk in hunting? Having a boat make a big difference. You need to read up on all the rules for each section. What are you planning on hunting with?

Are you talking wma or private? Lots of deer and hogs on private wma is fair.

Going to try the Corp Land this year. I've heard it holds big body deer going to try and hit the rut.

I have friends that hunt the corps land all season. They kill an occasional good buck but it's about like all public land big ones are few and far between.

Fox squirrels are there I've seen most in Backbone area of the wma. Best hunting is on Backbone, don't launch your boat at Backbone launch use Runaway your vehicle will be much safer there.

I've hunted demopolis my whole life mostly around hale county bottoms and pararie creek. I've seen good bucks come off land every year. I haven't seen to many fox squirrels til the past 3 yrs I've seen several.

I don't hunt there anymore so have no secret spots to protect. Generally, it is like any other tract of public land. The harder spots to access are going to be the best spots to hunt. I never killed any "good" deer hunting there but always filled the freezer.

Some things you need to know. It is very easy to get lost in those swamps. You may even know exactly the direction your boat is parked but cannot cross the body of water between you and the boat. This is especially true coming in or leaving in the dark. Daylight makes things look much different. I carried lots of lost hunters out of the swamps. Second, there will be duck hunters in most of those areas. If gunfire at daylight, retrievers and people slogging through the mud immediately before you can see bothers you, then hunt elsewhere or during bow season only. Third, parking on the riverbank can be a big mistake. Yachts do travel the Tenn-Tom waterway & don't always care or notice the boat tied to the bank. They produce a large wake. It really stinks to return to your boat after dark to find it sunk.
