Modern day savages are cut on a CNC machine and as far as someone's statement about the ability to customize is foolish. The savage is one of the absolute easiest weapon to accurize and accessorize. They are where a lot of home gunsmiths cut their teeth. The 700 and Remington have moved to the back burner as of late because of savage and their accutrigger and their out of the box accuracy. Remington had gotten bad as of late with consistency. Some guns are great some not so much. To me find a better value than the savage 110 with an accutrigger and I'll buy you supper. I'm not talking about personal opinion. Because if we are talking opinion then it doesn't matter. Want the best value? Then buy savage. Well said. What I meant by customize was mainly lack of aftermarket stocks for the long actions. If its made you can get it for the 700 and it's in stock- no waiting. P.S. hop on the Marlin forum and see what they think about the Remington made Marlins

I'd stick with the Browning. I'd pay 700-900 for a couple of inches but not on a rifle. You aren't going to get any better performance with a longer barrel and Japan is not going to refund you your money.

I believe Savage may make the most accurate production rifles going on average. With that, no other action is close to the 700 in number of custom rigs being produced. Aftermarket everything is readily available every where for them. The only advantage Savage has in this area is the barrel nut which makes swapping barrels something the average guy can do.

There if you think you cannot find parts for a savage 110 in stock you are crazy. Both are good rifles. However browning. There is a reason people don't make 1,000 yard guns out of them..... They are good at what they do. And that is a hunting rifle. However with both savage and remington parts are on most shelves if not they are a click away.

I never said you couldn't find parts for the Savage and don't appreciate being called crazy. Simply stated that the 700 is used more than any other action for customs. The reality is, whether you want to acknowledge it or not, no other bolt gun on the planet has more aftermarket options.
Now to the original poster's question, $700-$900 will get you into the nicer rifles from both companies. No wrong answer here, choose the one that fits you best.

I have a Savage BT112 in .308 that I would not trade for 2 Remmingtons. I do like Remmington fire arms also, but that BT112 is hell on wheels.
