I moved my family 16 years ago to where I am now. The number one reason was public school system. My daughter went thru public school and my son is going in the 9th this year. Coming from Conecuh county, Alex City public schools have been a blessing.
Not all private schools are what they are cracked up to be either.
Same here as far as moving.
I know some pretty sorry private schools that are providing little to know education. There are some out there that are just babysitting the kids. Some of them are church affiliated. As with everything else, people need to really investigate the schools they send their children to, public or private.
