Fellows, I got to get something off my chest. My wife has been to the ER twice, urgent care twice, and a pulmanologist ad a gastro specialist the last seven days. ER room says sw has pneumonia, pulmanologist said no she doesn't, gastro doc said no idea. She's had enough blood work drawn to fill a blood bank. She's had EKG, cat scans, X-rays, and anything else they could think of to run or check. The last doctor said they think it's lupus but won't know for sure till next week. My wife is in some pain across her chest and neck area. Her exact words were feels like an elephants sitting on her chest. She has shortness of breath and just looks bad to Be quite honest. At first it was was in spats here and there but the past few days it's been all day/night. Se hasn't slept 4 hours continous yet and a two year old at that. I have to work so been swapping between mom and inlaws to watch her. It scares me to leave her alone. I just wish we had an answer. Something to make her feel better or a plan to go after what ever it is. I've gone to work twice in the past two weeks with no sleep from being at ER all night and can't mess my job up with the insurance. Pray for Gods healing hand to work. The power of prayer is amazing and I know it is. So if you would send one up for her. She needs it. Sorry for a long post, I am usually the strong one but it's taking a toll on me now.

Don't know if They did a PTE study with her C.T. but she could have a blood clot the syptoms you describe sounds like a clot also could be heart related , I would get her to somebody that knows whats going on , don't play with heart issues or blood clots I work in CT and see this stuff all the time . Has she taken any nitroglycerine ? If not get her some and see if her pain lets up .

The ER doctor the first night said her d-dimers were higher than normal but not that high and didn't see any clots. They did her chest area I know. That's what we thought it was in the beginning. The urgent care doctor actually told her today to go see a cardiologist asap and said he would make an appt. Monday for her if she wanted. She has not taken any nitroglycerin.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Praying for your wife.
Sounds like the exact same symptoms my wife has been having. We spent a night & day in the hospital thinking it was heart related. They did EKG, heart monitor and treadmill stress test in the hospital and we were told it was not her heart.
Now they are looking at GI issues. She doesn't have a gall bladder as it was removed 3 years ago but Dr. is thinking she may have a leftover gallstone somewhere that may be causing her issue.
My wife has been sick since the end of November and we still don't have any definitive answers.

If her D-Dimer is elevated that is classic sign for blood clots , I would try to get her some nitro just to see if it changes her pain . First of all prayers sent brother. Second, do not I repeat do not give her any nitro. A PE causes hypotension (low blood pressure) and Tachycardia (elevated heart rate) the elevated HR is the body's way of compensating for the low BP. Nitro causes vasodilation this results in lowering BP because the arteries dilate. With the BP low the heart needs all of what is called preload that it can get. Also the clot does not need to enter the heart which could very well happen if it becomes loose due to the vasodilation. The D-dimer being elevated, hypotension, tachycardia, and what is known as ST depression in three contiguous leads of a 12 lead EKG are signs of a PE. Call me with any questions. Jamie 251-923-8500
