I have a replacement bond through Terminex and it has saved my butt twice. They paid to fix absolutely everything, not a penny out of my pocket.
If you get a bond make sure it fixes the damage. The cheaper ones only pay to get rid of the termites. Of course, you have to read the fine print to see this little bit of info.
Lord, please help us get our nation straightened out.

I can't think of anything available to use that works.EPA has banned all that was good. I thought 38% Permetherin was pretty normal for termite bond/treatment. Am I wrong? And it is still on the market.

Resurrecting an old thread…but is a termite bond truly needed on a stilted house? 30yo home and termite inspection completed before sell.
The harder I practice, the luckier I get.

I would get one if it is like mine. $175/year for inspection, retreatment, and will fix any damage caused by termites at no cost to me.

FWIW, I treated my house at the camp myself with boracare with mold treatment before the Sheetrock went up. I treated from the ground up 3’. I wish I had sprayed everything now.
I still pan to get a termite bond. The house will pass to my kids so I put in the extra effort to protect it.

Subterranean type. Not the normal termites, lot more creative. Look it up. Regular treatment, imspections, is essential. These got into two of my relative's homes and did a couple thousand in damage before they knew what happened. Prevention is the key. Repairing damage can be more expensive.

Ive always had one, but my houses have always been slab or crawl space. Iget that. But new house is 10’ in the air on treated posts. There was not a transferable bond when i got inspection done. Quoted $720 for centricon system.

I say get one, my parents did not have one and had termites get in their home last year. Thankfully it was caught fast enough before any major damage was done. That being said, Dad and I still had to remove the Sheetrock on a wall to assess the damage. It was a major pain in the arse but luckily sheetrock was the only real damage. If it hadn't been caught as quickly as it was, it would have been very bad. I had no idea that they eat sheetrock. termites eat the paper on sheetrock

My termite guy says to get an annual treatment plan with no repair bond. He says that there are so many things that allow the company out of the bond, if there is damage. I have an annual plan where they inspect bait stations and apply treatments as necessary. Damage will be on me.

When I building my house I had the framing and OSB up. A fruend stopped by to check my progress and asked me if I had a bond or treated it myself. I told him I wasn't worried right now. We walked around the back of the house, I had a piece of wood leaning agaisnt the wall. When I moved it was full of termites. I went with a termites bond. I later found termites. No damage, but I went with the baits and another company after that. Also mulching the flower beds will attract them. I would have a bond, I'm not willing to take that chance.

Thats really what the centricon system is, i think. They ring the dwelling with bait stations that attract any bugs and then it has something thats supposed to kill them. I get/understand termite bonds, and would def have some kind of coverage if my house was on slab/crawl space. But being elevated 10'...on treated timbers...how or where would the bugs get there?

Yes u want the bait stations cause they prefer it over ur house and carry it back to the colony and kills them. Rolling the dice otherwise. New construction should get a good liquid treatment then sentracons going forward. In most cases ur good following this. Sentracon system about 350 a year. Active termites in ur home will cost way more depending on the damage

Trench around the posts and apply termidor. I used to have my pest control operator license and you can buy anything the companies use online. Im sure its illegal to buy it without a license and apply it to other people's homes but if its your house I feel like you should be able to do whatever you want

Termidor is available from domyown pest control
Supposed to be good for 10 yrs.

It was around 1k for the install of the Centricon system and I pay 300/year for them to inspect/replace bait sticks, as needed. My 1 acre lot is heavily wooded and they usually replace 1-4 bait sticks a year.
