We just picked up a new track of 1400 acres off 69 in Tuscaloosa. It stretches from the furniture store to fields grocery and toward the lock and river and also has 3 fishing ponds. Anyone know much on this land and also it has hogs and our land across 69 doesn't so I don't know much on them. Are we going love having something new to hunt or are we going to hate having them. Thanks. Someone around here will know the area Im sure.

With hogs only on a section of the property it might be fun but if they spread across your entire property it can be pretty miserable. It can require a lot of maintenance to repair fields and roads they destroy.

No it ain't next year all of it will covered. If you are a die hard hog hunter you will love it. If not get ready for your fields to be destroyed. What I hate most about them is when they make a wallow in the field after a good rain, then it dries up leaving a hard pan bottom. Trapping is the best way to keep them from spreading IMO. Actually hunting them will help spread them all over the property. Get you a good trapping program started and have fun putting a 22 behind their ears.

N2tkty ill get back with you tomorrow. After I look at it and with the addition of the land we are taking members. As far as hogs on the other half of land its on hagler road that does not meet the land with hogs. Hogs have been on the new land for years and have never made it to our other properties. May be this year but I don't see it.

That's good maybe it will keep them out. If you can't tell Im not liking hogs right now. Lol. They have been putting a hurtin on my place. It was all good till they messed with my fields. I ended up not planting last year but after trapping a lot this year I'm going to try again.

I can see why you would be mad, and I've heard horror storys. Lots of my money goes into deer hunting and fields and add the work in and I wouldn't be happy. Maybe it will work out. Thanks for the help and heads up tho.

Biggest deer I've ever seen was behind that furniture store. Go thru the gate beside it and there's a shooting house at at "T" in the road. Killed a nice 6 point there but wish I would've gotten a shot at the 11 point that was chasing him off his territory. Some big racks in those woods. I guess Buckridge hunting club lost it???

I may be interested in joining. I work a crazy schedule but I wouldn't mind taking a look at it to have somewhere to take my little boy that's safe a couple times a year
We will burn that bridge when we get there

I do i hunted on the other side of good water road from you in some strip pits 7 or 8 years ago. Good genes, low numbers and the absolute worse coyote problem ive ever seen. Hardly ever saw a doe with a yearling, killed 3 or 4 yotes and missed 3 or 4 more. That was 7 or 8 years ago. Hopefully someone has came in and fixed the predator problem.Yes there are hogs, there was a few back then so im sure there are more now, but you have good genes in that area. There were several bucks came out of the pits across from you that were in the 200lb range with the horns to match. If someone has put a dent in the coyote population it should be some good up hunting bc its nothing more pine thickets and strip pits right in there. They rut right in the middle of january to the end of the season. Good luck hope i could help

Forten, if you own a tractor, you will hate pigs. If most of your land is flat and you love turkeys, you will hate hogs. Hogs will destroy a food plot and make it look like the moon and somebody has to ride a tractor over those food plots. God Bless the tractor guys that have to do this!!!
I love to shoot hogs but I'd check the box of NO HOGS at all if given the chance!!!
Good luck.

That use to be Buck Ridge Hunting Club. I was in it for 12 years and killed some pretty big deer. I saw some really good deer on that section of land 2 years ago but got out of the club just so I could keep my sanity. I heard BRHC was having a hard time keeping memebers but I didn't know it had gotten that bad. It actually has 4 ponds. The first one on the left when you go thru the gate off Goodwater did not have anything but one of the members took it on himself to stock it. Not sure what is in there now. And yes, it does have hogs. Let me know if you have any openings!
