Not uncommon for cycle shops to be closed on Mondays. Makes up for them being open on Saturdays, I suppose.
The left lane is for the the purpose of moving the flow of traffic forward regardless of the speed limit. If your impeding the flow of traffic get your ass in the right lane. It's really that simple...

Call Southern Honda/Powersports in Chattanooga and get the price of the model you want. Then when you go to Montgomery you will see how much money driving to Chattanooga will save you.
Southern beat Lakehill on price in 2005 when I bought my Rubicon.

Thanks for all the advice, but nobody answered my question. I still don't know if I should offer 90% of msrp or if that would be an insult.
I'd have to save at least $500 to make it worth the drive to TN or MS, just to pay the travel expense. Are they really that much cheaper?
I'm about to walk in the place in Montgomery. Gonna compare the Yamaha and Honda. I already know that nobody makes one like I want. Why would I want an ATV as big as a truck?
Thanks again for the help. I'd consider a used one, but I always get burned on anything used. I saved over $1,000 doing just that but I knew I wanted a Honda so i played the best price i could get at Southern Honda since they were closer to where i live against Columbus Powersports and they could not get any nearer than $1,000 . they asked would I drive to Chattanooga for the difference and I told them in a heartbeat. I walked out the store and the sales manager followed me to the car and dropped the price $100 so i called Chattanooga and told them I would be there the next day at 1:00 PM and they had it ready, I signed the papers and loaded it on my truck and drove home.
As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

PCP I looked at the website for LakeHill and Southern Honda and neither was advertising current prices. You have to call or email, supposedly due to Honda's advertising rules. JD does that. they only co-op (pay half) of advertising that doesn't have a price on it.
FWIW, Halls Motorsports down here has left over 2013 Hondas at a pretty good deal.

They may or may not have these particular ones still in stock, but there were a LOT more on their website (hallseasternshore.com). Be sure to ask for TOTAL prices including documentation fees before you drive a long way to get something. Hope this helps.

IF you spring for a Recon, Rancher or Foreman (Rancher will do, Foreman is probably overkill, but the Recon is realistically only for mostly flat terrain and just you, if you plan to load a deer and run hills PLEASE get a 4x4 with a low range, for safety's sake if nothing else), consider the EPS electric power steering.
It's available on the bigger two, and you would not BELIEVE how nice it is. At the VERY least, ride one with it and one without. You'll buy the one with it I bet.

Thanks for the replies; the ATV business must be booming. The place in Montgomery is closed on Mondays. Thanks for the 80% figure, Wiley. I'll tell them a guy on aldeer said that was the fair amount.  I'm sorry - if I would have paid more attention to your posts, I could have warned you about them being closed on Monday. I bought mine from them about 5-years ago. I don't know if I got a great deal or not, but it seemed like a pretty good deal at the time (36-month, .99%-interest financing). I bought a 420-Rancher, 2-wheel drive, manual shift, fuel injected that was the previous years stock, bought in 2009 (I believe it is a 2008 model). It has been absolutely terrific - not a single problem. I don't abuse it, but it gets used pretty well during deer and turkey season (we have 26-miles of roads on our lease and I normally drive to the farthest points to get away from other folks). When I have had it serviced - I use Aces High in Montgomery (I assume Johnny is still alive and in business - he had some health problems last time I saw him a couple of years ago). That dude at Aces High is a character! He can fix them up and won't work on anything but Japanese products. Wouldn't touch my Polaris. Also PCP, ask to talk to David Honeycutt at Montgomery honda Yamaha. He is the General manager there and a good guy that will be honest with you.

Whatever you do honda only...now an outboard...buy yamaha not honda. Yamaha atvs are crap. They can only make boat motors.

Was the Alabama tax part included in the sales of the Tennessee and Mississippi 4 wheelers, or did anyone have to pay Alabama taxes after the sale?
Just curious as I've never bought out of state other than farm auctions.

Thanks Robert, and everyone else for all the good info. I haven't gotten to talk to a salesman today, but learned a lot from you guys and from reading on the web. I was always considering the Yamaha Grizzly 350 4x4 vs. the Honda Rancher 420 4x4. I've been running a 1996 Yamaha Timberwolf 250 4x4 since it was new, and it has been a very reliable machine. Only thing I've had problems with has been the carburetor, and that hasn't been that much trouble. The little atv weights just over 350 lbs, and that makes it ideal for my uses. It is strictly a farm vehicle; the idea of riding an atv for the fun of it has never even occurred to me. I use it to spray crops, put out seed and fertilizer, haul deer out of tough places, ride the fire lanes when burning, and just riding around the farm to check on things. The smaller the better, and the 250 has plenty of power for anything I want. But it does have its drawbacks. Trying to shift when spraying is a hassle, so I've been interested in an automatic transmission for my next one. I also wanted EFI so I could quit worrying with a carburetor. The problem is, to get these features I've got to buy a machine that weighs nearly twice as much as the one I have now. Gonna do a lot more damage to the crops running a 650 lb machine thru the fields. I wish they could just put an AT and EFI on a 250 4x4, but its obvious that I'm not the target consumer for the atv industry. Robert, I was able to get prices from Lake Hill by filling out a form and submitting it, and their prices are not as low as that 2013 Rancher; that's a good price! But it will be manual shift and I really wanted an AT. If I go with a Grizzly, its gonna have a carburetor and all the issues that go with it. The only way to get AT and EFI is with a much higher-priced Honda. I've sent requests to both dealers, so I guess I'll see what they say tomorrow. I still don't know what's wrong with the Timberwolf, but the way it died didn't feel right; reminded me of a tractor that had a broken crankshaft. As old as I am, if I am ever gonna buy another atv now is the time to do it. Thanks again to all for the help.

I found prices at Lake Hill and the joint in Chattanooga when I bought my Honda UTV 2 years ago. I then went shopping locally and asked what the best they could do was. Some dealerships can't get as low as others. Some get preferential pricing due to the volume they order and stock. I ended up buying mine from Weathers Honda in Lagrange. They quoted me a fair price on the phone and I drove over and bought it. The price was within a few hundred dollars of the other guys but I didn't drive near as far.
You do not pay sales tax on an out of state purchase but they will warn you that you may get a bill in the mail one day if the two states get together and reconcile records. It has happened before.

when i bought my foreman 500 in 06 i went to pelham powersports and got their rock bottom price and lake hill beat it by 900 bucks

David B. The MS and TN revenue departments notify Alabama of the sale. It's an agreement that they have. Alabama will then send you a bill for the tax. I threw mine in the trash and never heard anything else about it.
