I would say that you are very correct, sir!

I know that is the case in my area, as well. I have seen racks that were unbelievable taken from here near my house that were hanging in barns or nailed to a plaque and hanging in old houses.
As a boy, we had cows in Wilcox County from near Peachtree to Pine Hill. We used to dog-drive with a group of black guys that were some really good folks. I have seen them kill some GIANTS and chop the horns off with a hatchet and throw them on old pump houses or hang them in the rafters of a shed. They simply were not treasured or coveted like they are today.

There were more 140"+ deer killed on Black Warrior last year than all other WMAs combined. I scored a 167 gross 10 point a couple weeks ago and I'm supposed to score another one soon that is roughly 170". I green scored another one in the high 160s during season.

For most hunters in AL a 140" deer is going to a taxidermist. There have been countless deer that size brought by the checking station that were not even a consideration for a shoulder mount, if that tells you anything.

I sure it's more of the type rut we have ... That produces or not ...
Some years it seems short and concentrated , a hard rut .
Then some years it seems slow and drug out over two soft months ..
