I just built a savage that will shoot circles around most Senderos and for less than $800. Go the custom route and do most of it yourself.

Are you shooting animals or targets? Why do you feel like you need a 6.5? Which means you'll be shooting 140's? Probably Berger VLD's which will about cut a deer in 1/2 but only out to about 600yds.

But that's kinda like chosing one crayon out of a box of 64.

My buddy has a custom 6.5 creedmoor that he shoots/hunts long range with. He uses 140gr amax ammo. He dropped a deer in its tracks at 808yds with it this past season. He's going for 1000yds this coming deer season.

Good for your buddy.

Do you think he could have done it with a .308 or a .300 or 7 Mag or.....

Lets not get off-topic! grin He is unsure what to buy, he may get some long shots in the club he just join. I can help him out will re-loads and let him shoot one of my guns and get him started correctly , as far as scopes and so own. He is just unsure on caliber. My personal preferces, for this discussion whould be 300 wsm, 7 saum,7mm mag,300 win , and 300 weatherby. I own 260, 6.5x284, and 6.5 creedmore but i target shoot with them and there are in my opioin better for recoil sensity type.

Sure he could have. He owns a couple of 308's, a 300 mag or two, a 416barrett, a 50cal and several more and shoots all of them on a regular basis at long range.

Exactly... for 500-700 any of the above make sense. I like my 6.5's just fine even hunting, but if you don't reload.... you've got plenty of options.

Yes, they do. Remington Sendero SF II is the rifle. SF stands for stainless & fluted.

I own one in .300 RUM and by far it is my favorite rifle in my gun safe. I have mine set up with a Kahles Helia C 3-12 x 56 mm scope, Leupold base & rings. It is my long range rifle and it will shoot 1/2" groups all day long.

If I had to get rid of every rifle I owned except one, the Sendero would be sitting in the safe by itself! thumbup

I used to own one , it was the stainless matte in Remingtom 7mm mag. I handloaded for it. It was 1/2 MOA off a benchrest. I bought it for $550 from a guy going through divorce, kept it 8 or 10 years and sold it for $900. They are very accurate, but are not treestand guns. Very long and damn heavy. I ended up buying a
Weatherby 7 Mag. I don't plan on shooting over 3-4 hundred yards. It was made for long range , bean field type shooting. I think sendero means path or dirt road. Mainly , dirt roads in Texas.

I like my sendero. And for what the OP wants to do, and where he will be hunting a heavy gun want matter. I onced cared a 18 lb custom 284 shehane 400 yards to get in a box stand and blast a doe at 547 yards. Point is a dont care about weight if im not carrying it far! These type guns are Mission Specific, of course there not treestand guns but how cares, they shoot good thats all that matters to me.
