You want to guess which flag flew over Slavery longer than any other flag ?

Let's see them try to ban that one !!!!

It's the KKK and the neo-nazis that have corrupted the Confederate Battle flag but if they want to ban a flag condoning slavery then ban the American flag their was slavery under its banner far longer than the Confederate Flag, just saying..

It has long since reached the point where quoting the Alabama State Constitution, has become the most vile political act a citizen of this state can commit.

Nothing hateful about that flag. It's a symbol that reminds many of us of our heritage and the fact that our forefather's took a stand for what they believed to be right (and slavery had very little to do with that war). I realize the South lost the War of Northern Aggression and was brought back into the United States of America. That flag is just a symbol. There is nothing racist about it, as there is nothing racist about the American flag that seems to offend so many. Unfortunately, our national pride has stooped to and all time low and patriotism is becoming less and less evident. The South didn't like the North telling them how they should live their lives (and again, it wasn't about slavery. I don't like slavery one bit and I think it is a blot that exist in our past, yes, past. I believe it would have eventually gone away on it's own as the U.S. became more industrialized, but I have no problem that it was partially done away with during the aforementioned war). The Confederate battle flag is a reminder to many of us that our ancestors had the guts to take a stand against a repressive government (just like the patriots did in the Revolutionary War). And, I just think the flag looks cool. Was everything the South fighting for correct, probably not, but they did have a fear of a tyrranical government.

Folks need to let a lot of that stuff go. There are many symbols out there I do not care for, but they do not offend me to the point that I'll try to get them banned even though they may represent something very oppressive or a time in history that is not well thought of. To me, many of them are reminders of past history and why we should take a stand and be involved in current events. History reveals the mistakes that were made in the past and should be a motivator for us not to make the same mistakes today and in the future. There's way too many other things to be more concerned about than some of the symbols we see each day - one being the demise and fall of this great nation. And folks, that's a heart problem - so many slaves to sin. I truly believe the only hope we have is through the change of hearts by Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Only through Him can we experience the changes that will once again make the U.S. a great nation - a nation that we can be proud of. And of utmost importance, how many folks are hearing the gospel message and seeing it lived out in us? That's what really matters.

I can certainly understand how some in our country can view a flag as the physical symbol of oppression, terrorism, and unfair practices in society. I have the same feeling when I look at "The Hammer and Sickle". If I had been black in the rural South and seen a lot of people waving a certain flag and spewing a lot of visceral hatred . I too would be reluctant to look at that symbol in a positive way.

On the other hand, I know that This country (The United States) was born in REBELLION. They had many flags that expressed this rebellious attitude. This idea of risking almost everything to show others that WE will not take it, is part of OUR heritage. To me "The Battle Flag of The Army of Northern Virginia" represents that same idea on a regional basis. The flag itself was not designed or intended to represent SLAVERY. It became that symbol after the fact.

Yes, the CIVIL WAR was over the issue of Slavery. Every aspect of the conflict had an underlying root and that was whether or not the country could continue to balance political power between states that allowed slavery and those that did not. More than 70% of Southern whites did not own slaves, yet they chose to fight because they didn't want to be told they had no say in the process of government.

I do not think any REASONABLE person alive today could possibly justify slavery or ignore the misery it brought to those that were subject to it. Given that my ancestry is of Northern European, there is an almost certain probability that some of my ancestors were forced into slavery. They were made slaves by the Romans, Franks, Germans or any other group that fought and conquered another group of people.

Please, just allow me to use the symbol that I choose to show others that, if your going to attempt to force your will on me I will not sit passively bye and watch.
