I think it's still too early on the flats. I have been out there the last 2 Sundays with limited success. I am new at crappie fishing myself but I hear it's a few weeks still before it turns on.

Good info on crappie.com I've fished with a couple of those guys and they know their stuff. I started crappie fishing about 6 years ago and I can say it is a learning experience. Shooting docks is just fun, but for numbers I like spider rigging and long lining. It's a great way to keep my daughter entertained and you just can't beat blackened crappie tacos.

Spider rigging is how I have been trying to do it. I fished the flats there in Decatur a good bit last year with no success but I think I was a little late so maybe I can get my timing right this year. Thanks for the info guys

Guy from work showed me a picture of a cooler full he caught at Weiss last week. He said he caught them in 2-4 feet of water just off a creek channel. There wasn't a fish in the picture less than 1.5 pounds!
