My 9 year old son and I have decided to dabble in duck and goose hunting this year. Still a great majority of our time we spend in the woods chasing the old whitetail. We killed a few geese and wood ducks this year on the family farm but I was tossing around the idea of going on a guided duck and deer hunt in the MS delta next season. Any of you seasoned duck hunters ever been on one, and if so who is a good guide to go with? Which part of the delta? I had some friends go to Stuttgart this year while I was in Ohio deer hunting and they had a blast but didn't kill as many as I thought they would.

I don't have much help for you as far as deer hunts go, but these two duck outfits are both really good. Mississippi can be just as good as Arkansas too, so I wouldn't necessarily get sucked into the Stuttgart hype. I've hunted with both of these guys and we had awesome hunts with both For field hunting -> http://tallahatchiehunts.com/For timber -> http://www.beaverdamducks.com/ (This place is really awesome and has a ton of history behind it. Nash Buckingham wrote most all of his duck hunting books about this lake)

There are only 2 more weekends for ducks so get you and your boy on it. Should be a lot of fun! Dr. B

Thanks for the replies guys. I have actually seen the guys from Tallahatchie hunts on a show on one of the outdoor channels. They were killin em in some flooded timber. Looked like a great time. Now that I'm thinking of it a duck hunt would be fine, I hunt deer in Ohio and have plenty of em here on our farm.

Check out David Melton at Delta Duck Hunts: http://deltaducks.com/. Never hunted with him but I've talked to him before and he seemed like a really nice guy. Have heard of several people hunting with him before and having a good time. I've seen these guys recommended several places as well: http://www.bayoudeviewoutfitters.com/.Only guided duck hunt I've ever been on was on Reelfoot Lake in NW TN. I'd go to MS or AR again before I'd go back to Reelfoot. I've just never hunted with a guide in either AR or MS.

He's probably got one of the biggest blinds in MS. I think you could live in that thing. He's a straight shooter too. I've heard he will cancel a hunt and refund the money if it's not going to be worth hunting (it was totally frozen over when I heard of this happening). That being said, I would still go to the first two places I mentioned before him just for quality of hunting.

I went on a hunt with Bayou Deview Outfitters once and will never make that mistake again.

Just got back from Drew,ms had a great hunt ducks every where. We hunted mainly fields. Did one roost pond shoot. What a show a roost pond is in the delta 20 min after shooting light! Ill post pics from my trip when I get enough service for my photo bucket to work
