I drove to Pensacola to Escambia Electric this morning and picked up my Large BGE. Then, off to Lowes to pick up some lumber for my table. Tommorrow I'm putting it all together and cooking some fat ribeyyes. I'm excited to officially be an EGG head!

Congrats. The only thing you'll regret is that you didn't get one sooner...

BTW.. THanks for posting your table plans. After figuring up the cost, I decided to build the simple table form the BGE site. I'll post pics when I get it built.

A little advice for what it's worth when cooking steaks. When new to BGE cooking, don't take it off when it "looks" done. Take it off when it "is" done. Big difference vs a traditional charcoal or gas grill.

No problem. Mine wasn't cheap... I think I have about $500-$600 in it, but I had to build it to stand up to the elements out on the deck rather than putting it on the porch. One thing, that SOB is HEAVY! laugh

Both. For steaks, searing them will make them look like they are done. Good thing about the egg is that if you "overcook" something, it won't look right but it won't hardly ruin anything. It's down right hard to dry something out. It just takes some getting used to. I keep notes with times and temps while I am cooking b/c usually I won't remember the details the next morning.

I'm going to let the table dry for a couple of days or so before I finish it out with a router and sander. The wood was dripping wet when I built it.

I have a couple of ribeyes to throw on it tonight.

There ya go.

I'm gonna go ahead and warn ya. Be careful when eating those ribeyes. If you let a little of the juicy goodness drip down your chin, your tounge is going to bet you silly trying to get at it! laugh

Just wait until you cook a cheap frozen or wal-mart pizza on it!

Enjoy!
