Looking for a store in Bham to shop for some new rubs. Bad Byron's has been my go to rub over the past few years but thought I would try to find something different for the yardbird. Any input?

McCormick Grill Mates makes a seasoning I like, Smokehouse Maple. I has some flakes in it and I don't suppose it's a true rub, but I use it as one and it has a great flavor. I've used it in meatloaf and on a filet mignon, too.

I like Dizzy Pig seasonings and Penzey's spices. Penzey's has a store in Homewood. Dizzy Pig has several dealers but you can try Alabama Gas, Light and Grill .

Another vote for Dizzy Pig. I just order online. Dizzy Dust, shaking the tree, raising the steaks are my favorites

Run up to Mr. P's and check out his selection and grab some steaks while you're there.
Also, check out Cracker Boy and Cracker Girl seasonings. Just google the name. Good stuff.

I don't use anything but salt pepper and white sauce. If there's anything better I haven't found it.

I see the DP has alot of different style of rub. What seems to be the best? I mainly use Bad Byrons, but also tried Dixie Dirt which is made in Andalusia and I like it a lot too. Next time I am out I'll get some of the DP at Alabama Gas Light and try it. I am always up for trying new rubs.

John Henry makes some good stuff. My current is the Apple Chipotle Rub. Werner Trading Co. in Cullman and Absco fireplace carry the John Henry. John Henry also has some good Lump Charcoal.

I like the Red Eye, Shaking the Tree for yardbird and the Jamaican Jerk. I haven't tried the Red Eye, but the Shakin' the Tree and Jamaican Firewalk are very good. I use the Raising the Steaks and Kosher Salt on hamburgers. It's very good. I also like the Swamp Venom for a little heat sometimes.

I believe you are looking for Plowboys Yardbird Rub. It is great on chicken and pork. I'm going to 2nd this. Yardbird is great on Ribs and Chicken, for my ribs, i mix the yardbird and some brown sugar. You can get it at BPS. I still use byron butt rub or my own recipe for my butts. I make my own rub for brisket.

Have any of you tried Lambert's Sweet Rub of Mine? I saw it in Academy and thought it might be worth a try...

I bought some McCormick's dry rub at Sam's and it was Brown Sugar & Bourbon. That is some of the best rub I have ever used. I love a sweet taste and this rub really hits the spot. I have used a couple of these rubs and this one is loved by all that enjoy our cooking. This one is hard to beat.
I can't stand a thief.
