I am about to buy a Stihl weedeater. FS 90 or bigger. I need one with handlebars and thats made to take the trimming blades for clearing brush. Before I go buy a new one, I wanted to see if any of yall have one you may want to sell. Let me know if you do, or know where a good deal on a used one is. Thanks, Steve

Go bigger than the fs 90 if its mostly for brush.

check out the brush cutters that have the chainsaw teeth on them. I got one for my Stihl, its the best thing i have seen in while.

If someone wanted to sell you a used Stihl, it would only be because it was worn out.

Probably so. I had an fs 80 years ago and it was a good trimmer. Somebody broke into my shop and stole all my power tools. I got a smaller stihl trimmer and it still runs good. I rekon I will have to buy a new one for cutting brush. Found one on craigslist and told the guy I would take it. He was going to hold it till the next evening for me. A few hours before I was going to get it he texted and said it wasnt for sale. Probably sold it to someone else after he said he would hold it for me. People kill me with not keeping their word now a days.

I have used many different kinds of large weedeaters doing pre-commercial thinning, understory removal, and hardwood release, cutting trees up to 6" DBH. For nearly all brushcutting, the Stihl 90 held up fine. I doubt anyone that has one will give t up at a good deal though. As for the blades, I used every type possible. Some require a lot of sharpening. The Beaver Blade with a chainsaw chain worked great until it came apart and was found embedded an inch deep in a tree 20 feet away. I finally found a high speed carbide tipped 9" blade that will cut hardwoods, pines, brush, kudzu, briars, grass, etc. It is NOT good for fencerows (too many chances to hit a rock or fence post). The only place I can find it is at Tuskaloosa Lawn Equipment in Northport (205.339.3681). I used it on everything from the FS 90 to a FS 550 and will never use any other weedeater or blades. Handlebars make the work comfortable, unless you have to reach overhead a lot.

There was a stihl kombi 90 on craigslst in Mobile last night. It looked new in the pics. It was under farm and garden section.
