I have one, and don't have a cure for him yet. He has been called into 60 yards or less 6 times on 3 hunts, shot at twice, and is still kicking. I am thinking Napalm while he is roosted may be the best solution for him. Stupid bird will gobble from sun up to sun down all while walking as fast as he can, hell I think he runs sometimes. WHEN he does commit to a call he will come to 100 yards without gobbling and circle one side or the other at about 50-60 yards. He often circles in the thickest mess he can find where you can only get glimses of him. What do ya'll think will work best? .22 mag, buckshot, corn, Napalm, a couple silent sitters at 50 yards to my left and right? SOB has drove me crazy. I have never called a bird up that many times without killing him. All I know is I have a couple more weekends in TN to kill him and since he is the only bird I have we will get tight again I am sure.

I know the type. Mine is still alive as far as I know. Been torturing us for years. My advice is to make a homemade bomb (see internet apparently) and leave it under his roost tree. As soon as he gobbles at daybreak, hit the switch and KAPOWEEE!!! You just killed a gobbla YEKRUT!

Have you tried a strutter deke or a deke at all on him? Sounds like he is in the woods so a deke might not be an option. From what you are saying sounds like he commits close enough not to see a hen or another turkey and draws the line. If a deke is out, I would try to use a terrain feature such a rise or hill. That way he has to crest the hill to look for the hen on the other side. If you can get him to do that I would be sitting within range of the crest to knock his head off. If you try this tatic I would tone it down on the calling an simply scratch in the leaves to see if that would pull him in.

I thought about a deke and probably will use one the next time I hunt him just to see what he will do. He is very cautious and comes in silent and will not gobble within 100 yards, doesn't strut either. I have never called him in without absolutely hammering him with calling. I feel that he is a 2 year old, has a thin beard but acts like a 5 year old. The last time he was called up I/we walked away from him calling for 300 yards and the sucker flanked us the whole time, we stopped and he come in and flanked us as usual. I don't care who kills him, I just want him dead before he passes on any more of his genes

About the only thing that kills these types is rifles or old age.

I hate 'em.

The best way to get rid of problem turkeys is to give your buddy a key to your hunting club and let him go down a day or two before you go

I wouldn't do this for just anybody, but I am volunteering to be one of the silent sitters on your right or left. I'm thinking he knows you're right handed so I want to be on your right where he knows you will be the most in a bind if he walks in.

Oh man I hate the ones that don't drum and go totally silent. I always feel like they are looking at me and I don't know it. I bet you're right though he's a crazy 2-year old. I bet you could kill him in the evening, course I'm sure you've already thought of that.

I have tried him all day a few days and also walked off and left him. He is just stupid is all I know, any other bird would have killed over from staying one step ahead of me by now.

If he is close enough to see, fan him

Im betting he is in Salem after I scared the chit out of him Monday lol. I haven't ever seen one act like that either, and if it hadn't of been for that hickory sapling.... well I guess we will never know. Still a fun hunt though.

And if he had stuck his head up one more time the first time he came in he would be in turkey heaven, cause B had done drawn a bead on his ass. But he disappeared only to start hammering away again 200 yards away.

obviously you need the biggest baddest full strut decoy on the market and a brand new Haint call.

I assure it is not. Based on your response I am going to guess you have never tried it. When they hang up 70-100ydish it is deadly. It works well in the woods bc you can move it around and get their attention and don't have to fool with a bulky decoy.

Sounds like he might just need to really "see" something making the call. At this point, I'd try a decoy. You got nothing to lose.

yerkut...hes one you need to team up on. Call him like an elk. A hunter or two set up and a caller back 50-60 yards. I hate problem birds...and Im a real problem solver...so Im willing to help you out and be one of the sitters as you call him in!
