A tractor load of alfalfa will make a believer out of you.

I helped my uncle cut and load pulpwood when I was in school. He didn't have a loader either, we had to hand load every piece. That was back breaking, hot, miserable work. It would kill me now if I had to do it. That experience made me appreciate all the other jobs I have had since then.

One summer went to work with the railraod pulling old crossties from the track for 3 dollars a tie ... really hot and the crisso burned my legs thru my pants.....

WOrking on rental properties for a family member. I learned real quick the attitudes of welfare recipients.

Resurfacing various small business parking lots in August heat when I was 14-15YO. Sucker didnt own a blower, I had to push broom the gravel/dirt and clean them up then hand roll every square inch. that job lasted about 4 days.

Toys R Us during the Christmas rush, or roofing houses in the Summer. Still cant figure out which was worse.

Assembly line welder on the night shift, making 2" welds all night long. To top it off the plant was in a horrible section of town where they had to lock us in at night and you could hear the "natives" shooting it out all night long too. The building was ridled with bullet holes and you just knew you would end up getting hit by a stray bullet. I lasted one week. That was the worst for me work wise. I've had a few horrible bosses over the years at other places.

It is kinda funny to think back about some of the jobs I have had. I sold Kirby vac. cleaners for 1 week in 1965 and didn't make a dime. I ran a collection route for a furniture company that sold mostly to blacks. I didn't stay there long. I floated 300 lb.blocks of ice from molds in an ice plant. Then I went to work for a produce company unloading 100 lb. bags of potatoes from box cars to semi trucks for $1.25 per hour. This was all before 1967.

Not the worst paying job...but the hardest I've ever had...

I worked a summer job on a coal cleanup crew at Alabama Power - Miller Steam plant. Our job was to go into the transfer houses and tripper floor (where they put coal into the silos in the plant) and shovel the coal out or back onto the belts. The coal would come off the belts sometimes. Sometimes the pile of coal would be 10ft high. It was the HARDEST job I've ever had. At first, it was killing us. We either shoveled coal all day or LAID on a fire hose. We could shovel it or wash it out. It was actually easier and faster to shovel it out. By the end of the summer we had got used to it. I made good money. But it was tough.

I remember one time I was in the "pit" shoveling fine coal dust. It was so dusty I couldn't see the wheel barrel. I just closed my eyes and shoveled. I left nearly everyday black as coal and my feet were draggin.

My dad loved it. I rode to work with him. He had to drive home some days. I just couldn't shift gears.

Yep we always called them pancakes. cause they would flaten out.

Quincy's Steak Office back in highschool. Would work 40 hours some weekends in 3 days. The sad part was a cute little waitress could come in and work about 6 hours over that same period and make 3X what I made.

I've been lucky. Not too many bad jobs. I guess the worst was a summer that Bush Hog hired a bunch of us college students home for the summer. They were behind and needed to catch up, especially in parts. I stood a drill press all day with a bin of about 10,000 pins that needed holes in them. When I finished I was rewarded with another bin.

All in all, it wasn't terrible. They needed labor and we needed school money. It also served as inspiration to finish school and not do that for the rest of your life.

I hated the times I worked for stupid Aholes that never should have been in the positions they were in. Those were my worst times.

Working for my father cutting grass. In 1970 he was paying me $0.50 an hour lol! I finally left him in 1979 went from making $1.50 and hour then, to $4.50 at my new job. He worked me hard too, I always got the work he didn't want to ask anyone else to do. Started working at 10 and still at it! Never knew anything else.

watering 4 -150' orchid houses 1 per day, and on the 5th day had to make mulch from charcoal, wood peelings an crap....lizards, spiders, snakes, hot, nasty dirty for $5.00 hour in high school luckily till summer baseball started up!!!!

I got a job one summer with Tyson chicken. Would go in a catch chickens as fast as you could go. It sucked and didn't pay good. I think I was to tall the amigos were 5 ft and I was 6 ft. Now I put on roofs got work but I enjoy it

During college I worked in a cabinet shop sanding cabinet frames and doors as they came by on assembly line. Had to be at work at 5am, class at 8, then back to work at lunch. Hot, dusty, low pay, and not the greatest co-workers. That's the only job I ever quit. During lunch one day I called a friend who worked as a waiter and making 2x the money and working less than half the time. He got me a job at the restaurant and I finished out the day, told my supervisor it was my last day and left.

I had the same job and we had to throw the square bales into the loft by hand.

When I was 13 I hoe'd volunteer corn from cotton fields for 5 dollars a day.
I make almost 6 figures now and looking back I liked that job better.

Cut 4 acres of okra daily for a farmer supposedly on halves when I was 11. Turns out, he was paying me about 10%. Did it for about a month, then said to heck with it. Never itched so bad in my life.

Worst job ever would be my first job. I worked at a grocery store at 16. Bagging groceries and rounding up carts was easy. But when there weren't groceries to be bagged, we had to be doing something even if it didn't need to be done. I had to wear a tie while the cashiers wore a polo. No guys got to be cashiers then. When closing had to mop the whole store, every square inch. Only got a 15 minute lunch. All of this for minimum wage. I have done much harder jobs like laying sod, welding, grinding in the summer heat but the pay was better and didn't mind it as much.
